  1. I use "Elevator Operator" (the first song on her album) as a prime example of this. She paints such a vivid picture of the lives of these people in the song that I am left longing for more about their lives. I want the novelization of these people after this moment in time that she beautifully captures with humor and pathos. The same goes for "Depreston."
  2. Cruz is a joke. But I take issue with that question too. It's clearly leading and it's intention is to provoke a reaction, which it got. A better way to phrase it would have been: "Why do you oppose this compromise and what would you offer as a solution to this looming problem as a way to show how can you solve something that concerns many Americans?" Or something to that effect.
  3. True. But every broadcaster has moments like that. Jim Nantz does this all the time. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. To me, a play-by-play guy needs to merely describe what he sees and otherwise stay out of the way. The main criticism I would have of Joe Buck would be that sometimes he talks too much. But I generally have no problem with him. Even in 2011 when "his" Cardinals beat the Rangers.
  4. Only if you compare John Smoltz to Harold Reynolds. But Joe Buck is a much better play-by-play guy than Matt Vasgersian. And I have no issues with Tom Verducci either. I think he would benefit if you got Reynolds out of the way. Three-man booths are pretty much always terrible. And since Reynolds is so bad, it drags the others down with him. Also, this was a great article following the Royals' ALCS win from Verducci: http://www.si.com/mlb/2015/10/24/royals-blue-jays-alcs-clinch-pennant
  5. I've always found Joe Buck to be well-prepared and more than capable as a play-by-play announcer for both football and baseball. I've never really understood the hate for him.
  6. RANGERS!!!!!!!!!! One more to go! #NeverEverQuit
  7. I just don't understand how all these members of our well-regulated militias are going berserk.
  8. It's absolutely ridiculous. And more news today...Texas Southern is on lockdown today after a shooting.
  9. Not only that, but the home team has yet to even have a lead in a game.
  10. Just another day in America. http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/10/09/one-dead-3-injured-in-shooting-at-northern-arizona-university/?tid=sm_tw

  12. http://www.freep.com/story/news/local/michigan/oakland/2015/10/06/cpl-holder-opens-fire-shoplifter-home-depot/73468588/ See. This is what we need more of in this country. Vigilante justice. Firefights in parking lots. A much safer country for all!
  13. http://www.gunviolencearchive.org/children-killed Here's a chart detailing the number of children killed by guns. Over 30 in September alone. If only these children had their own guns to defend themselves with.
  14. Let's just start rounding up all the guns for all I care.
  15. AL Manager of the Year is Jeff Banister. The Rangers had the worst record in baseball last year and were given up for dead after Darvish and Holland went down.
  16. After a 1996 Mass Shooting, Australia Enacted Strict Gun Laws. It Hasn’t Had a Similar Massacre Since.Old, but still good.
  17. A 10+ WAR season is pretty good, I guess. I just wish he played the game the "right" way.
  18. Terrible argument. You're saying that Harper hitting a few points higher than league average over a 7-game period is evidence of him giving up? You may be right, he only has a 1.336 OPS in September.
  19. I hate the question too, but I think it's because my job has very little to do with the type of person I am or what my true interests are. I never know if I'm in the majority or minority as a person who cares very little about his job. I often say that the biggest mistake I have ever made in my life is my choice of college major, which was chosen as a means to funnel me towards a specific vocation that I usually regret every single day.
  20. Amongst the Waves and Lightning Bolt are two that I can listen to. I don't hate Sirens, but it's nothing special.
  21. "Hate" is a strong word, but those last two Pearl Jam albums really come close. There isn't a great song between them, and only 2-4 songs that I would actually listen to. I agree. Pearl Jam is one of my favorites of theirs.
  22. Safeco is the best. And I say that as a Rangers fan. I really liked Coors Field, so I'm surprised to see it low on lists. But it has been a while since I've been there. Minute Maid is a nice park, too.
  23. Nobody should ever get behind the Cardinals.
