  1. Some of his stuff is downright mystical, especially Today's Undertaking: A mighty voice from out the clouds to me announced today's undertaking. He said go build a song 40 heartbeats long and sacrifice it for your love. So this one comes from high above. Yeah, this one is dedicated to you. The mighty voice in the clouds is obviously God, and this encounter is a mystical experience. There's an obvious reference to prophecy, and especially Noah, with the command to build something. The song's length is another mystical reference, as 40 is a sacred number. "Love" in mystical poetry is oft
  2. Not only did you see a Neil Jam show, you were at probably the most legendary/infamous one. I also hate you. For another example of retarded PJ fandom, the first show I saw was Merriweather in '00. When it was announced that Sonic Youth would not be opening because of a family emergency, and that PJ would therefore start early, people cheered loudly. Kim Gordon's mom died that night.
  3. Jesus Christ, Fleet Foxes is the #1 album on iTunes. Looks like SNL really did it for them.
  4. No love for the new (as yet officially unreleased) Of Montreal? But I gotta go for either Fleet Foxes or Dr. Dog. Shout out to Portishead, too.
  5. I second that Toad's Place Richmond is a great place to see a show. I caught Andrew Bird there last fall, and it was phenomenal. Awesome to have a smoke-free club in Phillip-Morris land. Back to Dr. Dog: still looking for a PM, if someone would be so kind. Thanks!
  6. Correction: Dr. Dog is NOT playing NYC the same night as Pearl Jam. June and July are, in fact, different months of the calendar. Carry on.
  7. I just recently (finally) got into these guys, and it kills me that they're coming to NY the same nights that Pearl Jam's playing at MSG. Could someone PM me a certain link to a certain leak of a certain new album, please?
  8. Sweet sassy molassy, that show was awesome. I heard ten songs I've never heard live before - and I've seen Wilco maybe nine or ten times now. Every time I see them, I'm surprised that they keep getting better. The only downside was that the 9:30 keeps overselling, and there was hardly any room to move. Great show, it left me smiling. And the light bulb poster is sweet.
  9. Oh man, I didn't know Janet Weiss joined the Jicks. This record is going to kick eleven kinds of ass.
  10. Wilco's by far my favorite band, and I really like SBS, but whoever thinks it was the best rock album of 2007 needs to get out more and hear more music.
  11. I was about 6 "rows" back, center stage. I didn't have any problems with the crowd where I was. From my vantage point, the crowd was loving the whole show, and it truly was the best Wilco show I've seen (out of about 8 or so). I thought it was even better than the last Charlottesville Pavilion show, which held my top spot previously. It sucks that some assholes ruined it for some people, but I think the vast majority of the crowd enjoyed a great show. I disagree that the set was a slow builder; I thought the band had a ton of energy from the beginning. This was my first SBS show, and the
  12. Incredible show in C-ville tonight, even better than the last amazing show here. I'm hoping someone wrote the setlist down, it was stellar. I saw several tapers, at least one about 20 "rows" back, and at least two in the SBD box. This is gonna be one people will want to download.
  13. The show's GA, and I highly doubt it'll sell out quickly, so no need to worry about a presale. I'm psyched for this - their last show at the Pavillion was the best Wilco show (including the best crowd) I've seen.
  14. Wilco to return to Charlottesville Pavillion on Sat, Oct. 20. http://www.charlottesvillepavilion.com/calendar/show/55/
  15. Sorry for the late response. Yes, I tried decoding through the errors, with no luck.
  16. He did play Armchair Apocrypha. Edit: Which, apparently, is actually titled Armchairs.
  17. I'm afraid I can't, but hopefully somebody else on the board can help you out.
  18. Would some kind soul be willing to host What Light (d01t11), Less Than You Think (d02t11), and Acuff-Rose (d02t17)? These tracks are failing the .md5 checksum, and I can't get them to decode.
  19. Sure you can. Download xACT. Open the .flac file in xACT and decode it to either .wav or .aiff. Then play it in the music program of your choice. It's got nothing to do with having a mac. This is just what you need to do to play .flac files, unless your music player has a plugin that can play 'em.
  20. I saw them in '02 at the 9:30. They were pretty sick. It was the only show I've seen there with metal detectors and wands, though.
  21. Haiti is a fave of mine as well, especially for the following lyrics: Tous les morts-n
  22. I'm surprised to see Off Broadway in the tracklist. I wonder if it's a freshly recorded version.
  23. Neil Young is a crazy-ass guitar god. That is all.
