it was a record release show for the new major stars album, in the tiny upstairs of the hong kong in harvard square. chris’ trio was tight and purposeful, mountain movers spun out some beautiful psychedelia, and then major stars came in like a guitar tornado. i can’t believe it’s taken me so long to see them live- i won’t miss them again (the new record is fantastic, BTW).

Surprised I haven’t heard them play it live yet!

poor research on my part- thanks for setting the record straight. also, clearly a sign that I need to add the winterlude roadcase to my collection. we saw one of the capitol theatre shows that fall (10/29/14) and it was magical. still, in all my years with wilco, i’ve never caught shake it off, and would love to hear it back in the live catalogue. you can also add me to the list of those who miss magnetized and you satellite. they were two of my favorites from the star wars tour shows we attended. -

i’m watching the “shake it off” DVD with the wife and kiddos as I type (first viewing in a number of years- i forgot what an awesome, intimate peek the film is into the band’s process at the time). i have always felt that shake it off (the song) has gotten short shrift in terms of live performances. the rhythm/tempo shifts, the awesome vamp, jeff’s vocal- all of it is so much fun. i’m assuming the reason they haven’t pulled it out much is the tricky synchronization, and not because taylor swift had a bigger hit of the same title several years after... regardless of the reason, i sneak a peek -
i’m a day late on this one, but the sun cooked it out of me yesterday. with both kids along for the ride, levitate day 3 had us catching steel pulse, wood brothers (up on the rail with adam and ella!), soulive, and damian marley. all in all a great weekend- though they needed about 5 times more water stations to serve the demand (lines were constantly 25 deep). even with the increased ticket sales this year, and feeling a little more full than we’re used to, solid sound still does it better than any other festival we’ve been to...

just got back from levitate day 2. super hot, but super fun. adam saw his first jrad set- and it was killer.

d’oh! there’s my post-show fomo for the weekend-my son and i caught most of cate’s set on the field, and were walking over to see tortoise in courtyard d when i heard strangers- my favorite kinks song (and one i’d requested jeff cover a few years back in his box full of letters)! i had no idea that was him on the harmonies.

Courtney Barnett. Wilco. Some festival thingy...

My wife, kids and I will be there. Fifth time around for Cathy, Adam and I- Adam was just starting to walk in the galleries and on Joe’s field at SS I and is now 10. Fourth time for Ella, who was born a week before SS II, the only one we missed. Time flies... I feel so lucky as a fan to have spent so much time with my family in the company of our favorite band over the years. Hope to make it for the group photo this time around. Happy fest to all!

Such a great night. Surprised my son with a ticket last night on his tenth birthday, which had him grinning from ear to ear immediately. In all our years of show going as a family, somehow he and I had never been to a show with just the two of us, so this one was gonna feel special no matter what. Jeff did not disappoint... So many highlights: -First time seeing One Sunday Morning in a solo rendition- it’s always beautiful but extra powerful and moving this way. -Both Ruling class and Hummingbird for Adam, who loves to whistle. -New favorites- Family Ghost and Guaranteed. -WE GOT OUR GUN!!!

bummed to miss this, but i’ll be at my son’s tenth birthday party. silver lining is that i’ll be taking him to the show tomorrow night- amazingly, our first father-son show together as he enters his second decade (though he’s no newbie- that’s him in my avatar pick at his first wilco show when he was 12 weeks old. first show together without mom and/or sis, though). fingers firmly crossed for gun- we’ve been stuffing the ballot box hard... -

duh. i was overtired and forgot the soli shows are below and not in chronological order. thanks as always, bbop. -
hi all- i’ve been trying to access the song request form on wilcoworld for jeff’s solo shows, but i can only seem to pull it up for upcoming wilco shows. is it no longer available? does anyone know if there’s a workaround i’m missing? thanks!

hi- my wife and i both struck out in the presale and general on sale for boston. it’s the only show on the tour we can make it to- if any fellow diehards have an extra pair we’d be forever grateful...

as a younger head (born in '78) who only got to see the boys live once (10/1/94 at boston garden- solid show), most of my live experiences with the music have been post-dead, so to speak. i loved the phil and friends and furthur shows i caught in the late '90's- early 2000's- lots of great memories. still, i haven't brought myself to go to a dead and co. show- while i love oteil, and mayer's certainly a great player, it's just too weird to me. from what i've watched and listened to, the all-mid-tempo energy critiques seem to ring pretty true... that being said, JRAD is one of the best live a

i saw the NC4 set, and was totally floored. some of the most jaw-droppingly virtuosic, original jazz i've ever had the privilege of witnessing live. if you are a fan of music, and have the opportunity to see these four guys perform together, GO.
