  1. What were your favorite shows this year? I still have a few to attend in December, but so far mine are: David Byrne at the Auditorium Theater (one of my favorite shows ever) Low Cut Connie at the Empty Bottle Drive-By Truckers at Thalia Hall Parquet Courts at the Vic Theater Guided By Voices at SPACE Courtney Barnett at Newport FF Alejandro Escovedo and Don Antonio at SPACE John Prine at the Ryman Margo Price at Thalia Hall Waco Brothers at Schuba's
  2. I'm now five episodes in and I really like it. I've worked closely with two of the defendant's expert witnesses (Werner Spitz and Jan Leetsma) so it's kind of a kick to see them on screen.
  3. As a die-hard, long-suffering White Sox fan, I'm pleasantly surprised and happy as hell that Harold Baines is entering the HOF. As NoJ posted, Baines is a class act all the way.
  4. That's high praise! DBT is one of my favorite bands, so I'll have to check this out.
  5. I tried putting all my concerts on setlist.fm about a year ago (it truly was a labor of love) and was amazed to discover that when I saw R.E.M. in 1986, Camper Van Beethoven was the opening band. I had completely forgotten that factoid -- and I love CBV!
  6. Finished hate-watching the last season of House of Cards. Garbage. Enjoyed the Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Just started the Netflix series Staircase.
  7. Thanks. I think this is the 15th time I've seen RT. He never disappoints.
  8. I had a blast. Great band, great setlist and the energy in the room was off the charts. I was happy to be dead center first row behind the rail -- just behind (and removed) from the craziness in the pit.
  9. Agree. First time seeing them. Can't wait.
  10. That's a valid observation. I guess Maron as armchair therapist/pop psychologist -- every episode -- kind of wears me out. But I still listen regularly.
  11. I listen to Maron's podcasts frequently (he gets interesting musical guests), but I always feel like he doesn't do his homework for his interviews. Maron's podcast with Jeff was no different.
  12. One of my favorite live albums. This album spent a lot of time on my turntable when I was in college.
