  1. Ray Rice is really good. Darren McFaddon is going to destroy FIU...
  2. I really do love Jeff's lyrics, and it's hard to pick just a few that I love. But recently, these have been hitting me lately: "Please don
  3. I meant using him specifically in "save situations". He's underused if they use him in only such situations. But speed isn't a good skill to have in the leadoff spot if it's by itself, which is why I put speed in quotes. I meant the idea of speed, as in a Juan Pierre type. "Wreaking havok" and all that stuff that doesn't really have any positive impact on a game. Speed + OBP is good. "Being a nuisance" is what most managers mean when they put a guy with speed in the leadoff spot.
  4. I think most managers have a tendency to stick with what they percieve as "general baseball knowledge" with in game management. I think Manny Acta's got a good head on his shoulders. I think most managers aren't very good. They also don't have much effect on the game one way or the other, in my opinion, so even if they are bad, they are mostly harmless. I jsut think it's funny when people say guys are "great managers". Didn't Ozzie Guillen once pull the names out of a hat when he put his lineup together? If so, that might be the greatest thing he ever did. My problem with most managers is
  5. Boy, somebody took their time on that job. No, it was given to him last night, I believe. But I get what you were trying to say. I shouldn't really even reply. That meaningless home run he hit in game 4 was very unclutch. Jeter's like 15 double plays in that series were the definition of clutch.
  6. I dunno. I've had it for a few weeks now and really gave it a listen when I was in the airport yesterday and it hit me. Thats a really good album.
  7. I've been getting into Ghostface Killah's Fishscales album alot recently. I don't know if thats relevant or what, but it's pretty damn great.
  8. Tell me who, of any artist ever is making music as relevant culturally as the Beatles in the 60's. That to me was the peak of music. I think there's been plenty of great hip hop music released lately, but thats just me. I know plenty of people disagree, and I don't disagree with the statement that hip hop is past it's best time (which I think was early to mid 90's.)
  9. I didn't catch the Hip hop honors, to be honest. What happened? Yeah, I realize there are many underground guys who might have more to say, but overall, in terms of what he's saying and how he says it, I don't think there's any better right now. (of course, I'm like the only perosn in the world who thinks Late Registration is on of the greatest hip hop albums ever, so what do I know?)
  10. Lil Wayne is pretty good. Nothing special, but he says stupid stuff that kind of makes me laugh. Lupe's the truth in hip hop though.
  11. Boy, this is a fun post. I'm not even going to bother.
  12. I need to start posting on SoSH more. Thats a good place.
  13. I was mostly referring to a guy who has run like 14 times as a third party candidate making a movie about why third party candidates can't gain any ground. The guy really can't see why he doesn't appeal to the common man?
  14. This is akin to Al Gore making a movie on global warming and being convinced it is the root of all evil because of that documentary... oh, wait... (For the record, I fully agree that the two party system causes a lot of problems, but a Ralph Nader documentary on that subject isn't exactly a great, non crazy source for that.)
  15. I kind of figured that since they were playing Iowa State, that even though I left out the "state" people would figure I was referring to Iowa State and no Iowa. I apologize for the confusion.
  16. So yeah, I've got about 40 pages to go. I read close to 200 on my trip this weekend. It gets really weak in the middle, around the time him and Mingus stop hanging out until about the time he starts talking about going to Camden. The first 200 pages are the best, by far, and some of the best stuff I've ever, read but overall I think it's a pretty remarkable book.
  17. If it weren't for those god awful unis, Iowa probably could've won.
