  1. Your avatar seems partiularly relevant right now. Please take every precaution and stay healthy. It feels weird to go out for walks and get off the sidewalk when walking past others. The best thing I've seen regarding social distancing (which I'm in day 5 of right now, and as a public school teacher in Iowa will continue for at least another 4 weeks) is don't act like you don't want to get the virus, act like you have it already and don't want to spread it to others.

after trying for over 2 weeks, i'm finally getting tested today. i pointed out that it would seem logical to test at risk people with some of the symptoms. the testing situation in seattle is still dire.

  2. I appreciate that there are vulnerable segments of society that need resources and special care, but it's not ebola for God's sake.

The vast majority of people will have a bit of a cough and no worse that usual annual flu.

The whole world needs to calm down a bit.

perceptions change when your area is infected. i live in seattle & have a friend in nyc who thought much the same as you. now that nyc is having a problem, the tune has changed considerably. here in seattle the number of infected is doubling every 2 days & there still aren't sufficient test kits so the number is likely to increase greatly & soon. already the hospitals & medical supplies are starting to get overwhelmed. so far, 50 restaurants have closed due to lack of business. the streets are empty, schools across the state have been ordered closed for 6 weeks to try & slow the spread. crowds of over 250 are have been banned. yes, its not ebola but that doesn't mean its not dangerous. this spreads quickly & the mortality rate among the at risk population is 10 times that of the flu. unfortunately, i'm in the at risk category & may have the virus. due to lack of supplies i haven't been able to get a test since i don't have all the symptoms. in the interest of the community i am self isolating until i find out. i am hoping i will be tested next week. if i get pneumonia it will be dangerous as my immune system is compromised. i've had it more than once. doing all i can but it may not be enough. check out some reports from italy, france & spain. iran is even worse but hard news is hard to get. the response by the federal government has been deplorable. initially all they were concerned about was the stock market. well, it appears that "strategy" has backfired. you are not alone in your beliefs but again once your space is more affected it probably will feel more real. not yelling, is very tense times for me.

  3. cool. best of luck to them. i haven't written about this here but i live in seattle. due to immune system issues  & drugs for that, i'm high risk & indeed may already have the virus. i haven't been able to get tested yet due to lack of testing kits in the US. i have some symptoms but not quite enough to hit the testing threshold. supposedly that is going to be lowered by next week. i go see doc on tuesday & am going to insist on test. if nothing else for peace of mind. i haven't felt well though & its been slowly getting worse. so, fingers crossed for vaccine. & test kits in US!

  4. I'm very surprised that there hasn't been an announcement about these yet.  Pearl Jam is already talking about how to get refunds from Ticketmaster.  I'm not even looking for my money back at this point, I'm just worried that people are actually still planning to go!

the official announcement was only an hour ago. i'm sure there will be something later in the day from Seattle Theater Group.

  5. Just put in my request for a refund for the Seattle show. Kind of bummed about it (& DBT too!). There is no way I can go given the circumstances. Not that I feel like going anyway. It's getting crazier daily. Italy in lock down, Pearl Jam tour postponed & Coachella most likely postponed until October. I think this is just the tip of the iceberg. Think it is going to be a rugged summer for touring. I'm hoping all is better by the fall. I've got tickets for Roger Waters in September & Nick Cave in October. I don't get out much & have to be careful with my concert budget. I'm glad they are making it easy to get a refund for Wilco. Those tickets weren't exactly cheap & at least I don't have to take the hit now. Hope all are well out there.

  6. That really stinks. Keep well.

thanks, it is what it is. seriously hoping that this clears up some by September for Roger Waters & October for Nick Cave. I also have tickets for Sturgill Simpson in early May. A bit worried about that one. Of course, really  hope I don't have the damn virus! am under very specific direction from my doctor. I have some symptoms but not all of them. Due to lack of testing capacity, they aren't testing me yet. That could change very quickly. If I get worse I'm to call doc immediately & will be tested. Fingers crossed. Everyone, be safe & well out there.

  7. Some news regarding the Seattle dates: Seattle Theater Group is offering refunds to anyone who requests them even if the show aren't cancelled due to the coronavirus. Sadly, I am going to have to take them up on this. At least I won't take the hit on the ticket cost. Hoping other venues/promoters follow their example. I have tickets to Drive-by Truckers the same week. Those weren't as expensive as Wilco but still it would be nice to get the money back. This bums me out some as these are 2 of my favorite bands. Since I'm high risk, there's no way that going would be a smart move for me or anyone else.  :worried

  8. Yeah I can't imagine the Seattle shows happening now. Hopefully the rest of that run is still ok.

Ya, things are pretty bad here & getting worse daily. & it is spreading. State of emergency has been declared in California too. Unfortunately for me, I don't think I'll be able to go to Wilco or DBT even if they happen. I'm at high risk for the virus. I'm not officially in quarantine but am effectively. Luckily I've got good doctors & have been given very specific instructions. If a few more things happen I'm most likely headed to the hospital. Scary times. BTW, in the short amount of time since I wrote the post about Young Fresh Fellows, things have gotten way worse in the city. I talked to a friend in Milan & it sounds like Seattle is like Milan in the early stages. People need to be careful out there!

  9. If that's what he and his boss agreed to in his contract, then yes.

It's sad that these guys, not just Aerosmith, all of these over the hill classic rockers, still need money. Either they blew it all, or they are fucking greedy as hell. "We'll pay you $$$$$$ for a Vegas residency". "Yes, we'll do it, no matter the personal cost or how pathetic we look. Pay me my money down!" Graceless motherfuckers.

are you really David Lee Roth?  :ike
