  1. living in seattle, i was lucky to see the hip many times mostly in small places. starting with "new orleans" era. when they played here, there was usually a healthy contingent down from vancouver. at 1 point, the owners of a big club were using me as a consultant about booking bands. when they asked me about the hip, i said book them now! they set the club record for alcohol sales that night, haha. the one big show i saw them do was opening for jimmy page & robert plant. the hip totally destroyed them with an unreal good opening set. i saw gord do a solo show once too & that was just as good. miss that band!

  2. That is really good news. They are on my bucket list of bands to see, but they have been lower on that list without Frusciante. I may have to pull the trigger on seeing them now.

WIth Frusciante back, I'd put them up against any band musically. Vocally maybe another story but having John back is a big plus for that. He's a great singer. Listen to "By the Way". My favorite studio cd by them. I saw them last tour & while they were still really good there was something missing. This one was totally out of left field.

  3. For the hell of it I chose a $55 ticket for Seattle, top price available. Total came to $73

    Addons

    $10 Service Fee

    $4 Facility Charge

    $4 Order processing charge

when I got my tickets, top price available was $75. pretty good seats on the floor for the second show. total bill was $150 for 2. i have noticed this happen on previous wilco band presales. last time they played seattle, i got a pair on the presale for one show. later, i bought tickets for the second show on normal on sale & they were more for nearly identical seats. i just forgot about it. i'm only going to one this tour because drive-by truckers are playing at the same time as the first wilco show.

  4. I paid a $13 fee for Vegas for a presale ticket. I think each venue/ticketing service might be a little different.

i'm jealous! that will be an excellent venue to see wilco. & you have in n out right outside the door for post gig munchies. nice!

  5. I think they just include them in the original price you see. They are always there.

in my experience, they are usually listed as a seperate line item on the final tally. along with shipping fees, etc. typically on a $75 ticket it would be another 15-25 % tacked on at the end.

  6. pipe dream time: it would be beyond cool if on night 1 in seattle some/any wilco members showed up to play with drive-by truckers. the paramount (wilco) is about a half mile from the showbox (dbt). since the showbox is a club, dbt will be on much later than wilco. that & dbt really like this club & usually play at least 2.5 hours there. no curfew other than 2:00 AM booze cut off. one can dream!  :yes

  7. Oh great suggestion! We're looking at arriving on the day of their second show, could time out perfectly.

DBT are a great live band (studio too). You won't be disappointed. They should be rested as Patterson Hood lives in Portland now. On a practical note: the tickets in Seattle were less than half the cost of Wilco. I'm seeing DBT on 3/18 & Wilco 3/19. that's pushing it for me but the deed needs to be done!

  8. Flights to Portland aren't that bad, so I bit the bullet and got tickets for both nights.

you should try to squeeze in a drive-by truckers show too! they are doing 2 nights the same week as wilco in portland. i'm getting tired just thinking about it haha

  9. I'm really out of the loop when it comes to Wilco on tour. Will these dates sell out right away? I'm in Vegas, they're playing a small venue here. Do I have to be online right away with a pre-sale code if I only want a couple GA Seats? I'm thinking yes.

you should just to be sure. that would be fun to see them in vegas. i used to go to vegas a lot but the greed of the casinos has finally got to me. all the extra add on fees are out of control. you have so many good music rooms down there.

  10. Wtf is up with the Seattle restriction on only people from surrounding states being allowed to buy presale tix?!? Why is Seattle so weird with stuff about concerts (we all had to sit down on the floor before a show there once...never seen it before or since)?!?

    amazon poisoning

  11. I got ADA seats on main floor (they are a little elevated so dont have to stand. sadly i can't stand for a show anymore). row T second seattle show. got burned a few times from ticketbastard. hit buy & it says someone else got the tickets.

  12. Wilco should go on the embittered city tour sometime. Philly, San Diego, Florida...

they are based in chicago.....  :stunned

  13. I might be a bit of a hoser sometimes.

They both spent 2019 touring for their 2018 records, so I feel like we won't get solo albums from them til 2021, but maybe if we're lucky we'll get another collab album. Kurt made a joke recently on Janet Weiss' Instagram about his "side project" so maybe he was hinting at activity. Or maybe I'm grasping at straws.

i guess i'm half a hoser. mom was born in ottawa. :)

  14. Andy Shauf and Destroyer are the most anticipated for stuff that's been announced already.

Though I suspect we could see new albums from:

    The War On Drugs

    Benjamin Booker

    Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile

    Father John Misty

    Rolling Blackouts CF

Sufjan Stevens (2005: Illinois, 2010: The Age of Adz, 2015: Carrie & Lowell, 2020: ???)

    King Tuff

    Jason Isbell

    Waxahatchee

    Wilco

    and of course... Ty Segall

Long shots but I'm a dreamer:

    Bob Dylan

    Sloan

    Sloan, eh? ;)
