  1. Hey Chuck, I'm really sorry to hear that. I'm in the pit which I'm assuming is not an option for you, but if it is, I'd be more than happy to watch the show with you.

Thanks, TCP. I'm just not in shape to go. Luckily, I'll have chemo before next show I have (Fleetwood Mac in November). Appreciate the offer though. I was able to off the tickets at work. Chuck

  2. I have a pair for the Seattle show. GA balcony + parking. I paid about $120 for whole package. I'm not well & don't really have anyone to go with. + a good friend passed away a little over a week ago, so sort of in a dark place right now. Same age as me, so hitting hard. Make me an offer (not looking to profit). Send me a private message here if interested. thanks

  3. i don't usually spring for the expensive super deluxe stuff but i may have to make an exception for the 9 disc BBC set. looks outstanding. i've heard boots of most of the full shows involved but would be nice to have pro mastered versions. i miss REM! i saw wilco open for them once when wilco had summerteeth out. that was a great show by both bands!

  4. I recently read (can't remember where) an interesting concept: Trump is America, Inc's test run on how the citizens would respond to a dictatorship. As someone who is a ghost in the machine of the military/industrial complex, this isn't as far fetched as it seems. I can tell you that upper management had to go change their underwear when Trump said the words "space force". If the Donald gets a second term, its going to be sign.

  5. Pearl Jam. First time for me.

i saw a fantastic PJ show a few weeks ago. if you're going second night, you done good. traditionally, night 2 has been better. here, they played a half hour longer & a very punk rock set. lot of rarities & soundgarden/mudhoney assists. & they played "crown of thorns". :)

  6. Saw the Foo Fighters last night & sadly wasn't too impressed. It had been a real long time since I'd seen them. It was the Dave & Taylor show. Rest of the band seemed a bit disengaged. As a guitar player, Dave is an excellent drummer. Krist Novoselic's new band was opener 1 & were horrible. A friend said it was what she imagines the Manson family would've sounded like if they had recorded an album in the 60s. Krist did come out with the Foos for a rousing version of "Molly's Lips". Highlight of the show for me. The second opener was the Joy Formidable. I liked them a real lot & would go see them on their own. I found myself thinking several times during the Foos that they could've ended the song 10 minutes ago & everyone would've been happy. Dave is a nice guy & good front man though I think Kurt is spinning in his grave about the cliche rock star antics. During a jam during the 2nd or 3rd song they went into a Santana "Soul Sacrifice" jam. Knew I was in trouble then. See comment about guitar earlier in review. Pains me to say but it was pretty much mediocre. Several friends agreed with my assessment.

  7. Oh man, it was a little annoying having my phone locked away. I wasn't crazy about not being able to check the time or message my wife when she was at the merch booth. I'm, admittedly, not opposed to taking a quick photo at the beginning of the set either. But it was nice not having jabronies filming videos, holding up their phones, letting their flash go, and shoving their phones next to the people on the rail's faces (this happened to me during Spoon earlier this year). Also it was nice seeing the warmth of actual lighters again and not a bunch of phone screens during slow songs.

on the opposite end of the spectrum: at the Pearl Jam show Friday, Eddie Vedder came out solo for first encore & did "I Won't Back Down". Asked everyone to hold their phones up. All of Safeco Field was lit up by 40000 + phones. It looked awesome. Pretty sure there is video up youtube of it.

  8. A (very) young Cowboy Poet actually really liked Weezer, one of the first bands I ever got into and a gateway to Pixies, Nirvana, etc. But I don't think I could make it through a Weezer set in 2018... (maaaybe if it was just Blue and Pinkerton played back to back... for the nostalgia!!). But fortunately, it was a non-Weezer show. The band that opened is Sleigh Bells and they were the worst goddamn band I've ever seen. I'd watch Weezer play Beverly Hills a thousand times before I'd ever watch one of their sets again. They were 90% prerecorded, with two guys with BC Rich metal guitars doing some fuzzy chords. It was like what a teenager in 2002 might have envisioned "cool" being. But everyone here in Missoula seemed to like them so what the hell do I know.
