  1. Really like "Warm" on first listen. Nice vibe & performances. I like how he has involved Spencer & Sammy. Looks like Sammy is developing into a really good photographer. I like the album art a lot. I probably need to listen more but I've been stuck on the Bowie Glastonbury 2000 release. Some things are just holy, doncha know.  ;)

  2. Which club show did you catch?

My best seat/venue I ever saw them in was Alpine Valley in 89 -- we were about 25 rows back dead center.

All the other times was in large arenasdomes or football stadiums.

I saw them at the Joint (Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas) before the remodel. It was1200 capacity. Still a nice venue but 4000 capacity now. The Licks tour. Then I saw them the next night @ MGM Grand Arena (smallish arena), with good seats. That show was actually the better of the 2. Sticky Fingers night, got my only "Can't You Hear Me Knocking". They also did a stripped down "Brown Sugar" on the B stage that was stunning. Just the boys, he who shall not be named (Chuck Leavell) & a magnificent sax solo by Bobby Keys.  :rock

  3. The Bobby Keys film is great. Some great interview stuff with Keith & Charlie. I waited out the TM waiting room. Took about 15 minutes. I ended up getting the exact tickets I wanted in Seattle. ADA seats in the front of the upper deck, Keith side, about even with the end of the catwalk (50 yard line). $100 each, not cheap but not out of line. Could be way worse. We've sat there for some spectacles (U2, Metallica, G 'n R) & the perspective is very good. & the sound there at Century Link is excellent. I'm quite happy with how it turned out. I've seen the Stones over 20 times from a club to arena to stadium. Have spent hundreds of dollars for tix in the past. Those days are gone but is ok. I can't stand for a show & would rather have a seat with no one in front of me. In fact almost have to nowadays. Excited.

  4. I just finished the book. It was pretty good. I thought it started stronger than it finished. The farther along it went in the timeline, it seemed the less was said. A little rushed. 1 notable exception was the stuff about Mavis Staples (& Dylan a little). Overall I'd recommend it but it wasn't quite as compelling as say the Keith Richards & Bruce Springsteen autobiographies.

  5. Thanks chuckrh. It’s nice to hear the perspective of someone who is a fan of all three acts (Finn, FM, Petty). I am one of the biggest Neil Finn fans on the planet, but am having a very hard time coming to terms with his joining this band. I was a big FM/Stevie fan 35 - 40 years ago, but over the years came to focus mainly on Lindsey’s solo work, so that contributes to my struggle with the current situation. It sounds like a good night of music. :). Not sure I want to blow $200+ on it though.

Just because of Neil, I splurged & spent $200 a ticket. He looks like he is having time of his life up there. Was worth it just for Don't Dream & the Petty tribute. There were many other fine moments though. I like Stevie but in small doses. They pretty much alternated between all 3 lead singers. Stevie had a little problem during Gypsy but rebounded nicely. The pre Stevie stuff was all great. All the Things You Do, Black Magic Woman & Oh Well were all stellar. I think you would enjoy the show. & there is a built in bathroom/more beer break. Is called the drum solo haha. Too long but entertaining. & the version of World Turning around it was amazing. It's nice to see him get that level of adulation. Long time coming & well deserved. Hopefully it will lead people to his other work. I wish he would tour the states with Liam! They are doing a month in Europe between FM legs. It's the Finn family band. Playing small cool venues. I've seen Neil in clubs numerous times. He should've been an arena level act long ago. I hear he is well set up though & was smart with his money. He was sheer joy during this show.

  6. I’m about 200 pages in and am shocked no mention of Gary Louris or Golden Smog ! Am I missing something? Still great read so far and I laughed at his meeting of Michael Stipe

Ya, that was pretty funny. I saw Wilco open for REM around the time of Summerteeth. Great double bill. I miss REM!!!!

  7. The Fleetwood Mac show last night in Tacoma was great. The new blood in the band has turned out to be a good thing. Different vibe now, happier. Stevie & Christine were spot on for the most part. Musically, Mike Campbell is the leader of the band. He spoke more last night than all the times I ever saw him with Petty. He's in a league of his own as a guitar player & this was very much in evidence during the show. Fantastic. He even sang lead on Oh Well. Neil Finn is 1 of my all time faves & he fit in very nicely with the ladies. His take on Lindsey's songs was fresh & very very good. 1 of the highlights of the show & best responses was for Don't Dream Its Over followed by Landslide. The entire venue was lit by people holding up cell phones. Such a great song & Mick Fleetwood did a long intro about what the song meant to him. The other highlight was the Tom Petty tribute of Free Falling during the encore. Very emotional & spot on. Stevie sang her heart out while pics (a lot of them clearly from her personal collection) showed behind the band. I found myself getting a little misty during it. If you are a fan at all, I would recommend going to see the tour. You won't be disappointed. 1 tends to forget just how great Christine McVie is & she is getting up there (75!). The band is still playing pretty close to top of their game & seem reenergized.

  8. I'm about 4 chapters in. Very good so fa, better than most of this sort of thing. The story about not being able to get in to see the Ramones is priceless. & very accurate I think. I hung out with the Ramones a bit after a show just before Dee Dee quit. They obviously weren't getting along. Johnny stormed out to walk (long ways) back to the hotel. The way Jeff characterizes Dee Dee & Joey were exactly how they talked & acted. Very funny: "its raining, let me get my galoshes" haha. I would bet Joey actually said that. The show with Replacements opening for X sounds like it was a doozy.

  9. Where are they playing can’t find the dates anywhere?

BV, the moderator is pretty wired in here. been at it for 40 years, maybe more. think there will be 1-3 shows more than this. really excited that seattle made the cut this time. word is the official announcement is going to be tomorrow.

  11. lots of meat products there, haha. if i were going i would make a pilgrimage to Buddy Guy's Legends blues club. Buddy is a national treasure & he's getting up there in age. he was 1 of the last of the blues guys to come out of the cotton fields down south & migrate to chicago. IMHO 1 of the greatest guitar players ever. i've seen him several times & he is always great. i got to hang out & have a drink with him once. nice man. i'm told he pops into the club unannounced, so its not just a situation where they are using his name. he actually at least partially owns it. looks like there could be some good cajun eating there too!
