Little Tommy went to kindergarten one day wearing a cubs hat. His teach asked him why he was a Cubs Fan. He said,

the show would have gotten a second season for sure if it had a little faster pace/better editing.

i don't know if mundane enough is a fair label for the shows that have survived on the network. if it were regular tv, sure, but HBO has a good record of presenting decent tv shows. even back when they ran Mr. Show for four seasons, HBO did a good job. Weeds is excellent - probably the best cable premium network series. i like BIG LOVE a lot also.

i gave up on that philip roth book. it wasn't very good. i think i'm going to read the his dark materials series right after i finish reading a book about a WWI poet in an asylum who wasn't mentally ill.

he's going to fade until after the 08 elections. then who knows? he's still on the hook to testify before congress. the hollywood 10 went to prison for a year on charges of "contempt of congress". that's what rove is facing sometime in the next 60 days. hope he remembered to pack his toothbrush.

i value your opinion because it's the same as mine! i'm going to watch weeds season 2 now.

has anyone seen anything on ticket prices? i'm not going to get my hopes up to see 3/4 of van halen if it's more than $40.

flipside was great. i also liked suburban voice because it came with a "free" 7" every issue. i still have the sam black church record they pressed somewhere.

since john is DOA, that makes the final episode that much worse.

i don't care for either band, but i liked the movie quite a bit. it was highly entertaining watching anton repeatedly shoot himself in the foot.

president hillary. oh dear god, the sky is falling and i want my mommy.

if it makes you feel any better, the punk rock world had the same issue when maximumrockandroll totally went down the shitter in the early/mid 90s. it's not just RS, but most music magazines. somehow i've started getting newsweek. i didn't subscribe, but whatever. anyway, it's a lot less substantial than it used to be. perhaps it's most periodicals in general that are sucking hard. i dunno. i really only get a couple news magazines and they're consistently good (the progressive, mother jones and my dad's leftover copies of the nation).

from the same article: " The US military found that it preferred voluntary service to universal conscription because it drew better educated, more highly motivated recruits looking to make a career of the military." i don't find the pentagon to be the most credible source for public policy issues.

i'm kinda pissed that the season ended like it did. i kept waiting for the bombshell development and all we got was john's logo appearing as a corporate logo. fucking weak!!

they're going to need the draft if they open a third front in Iran.

America isn't at war, the Marines are at war. America is at the mall. This is the only way to get the yellow magnet crowd to actually take a meaningful position on this war. oops, i meant to post this one

i have a framed one-sheet (reproduction) for the movie poster (as well as a nifty lunch box). it's my favorite of russ' movies. i met two of the ladies (tura and haji) at a holiday inn one time, but that's another thread.

my absolute most important "celebrity" encounters were meeting howard zinn and james loewen (separate events). those two guys are more responsible for my career choice than anyone else. i don't think they count as celebs unless you're a social science geek.
