  1. August 9th will be here before we know it, too. I still remember where I was when I heard the news. I wanted to cry, and I had to work all darn day!
  2. Damn, I've had a copy of that since about 1990. I ain't buying that! The interview segments with Cynthia Gooding are pretty funny. I don't know if she was dating Dylan at the time, or just wanted to be dating him, but she had her head so far up his ass, she could probably have tasted Head & Shoulders!
  3. This is probably a bootleg version. That whole set (and much more) can be found on the remaster of Here and There. I believe the remaster contains an entire show in the U.K. plus that entire MSG show, not just the parts where Lennon joined the band onstage. For those looking for additional unreleased live Elton material, if you google "Elton John stuff" you will quickly find a Spanish blog that has a lot of shows that can be downloaded in mp3 format...not that we EVER encourage that here, but ... I'm just saying.
  4. Here's an old classic old Dead show: 7/2/71 http://gratefulbreed.blogspot.com/2010/06/grateful-dead-fillmore-west-07-02-1971.html

  6. Ah, thanks. Didn't see that. Not a huge Kinks fan, but I figured people here on VC might want to know.

  9. I pulled the profile image off and re-uploaded it as my avatar. It's tiny, but I don't really care. Thanks.
  10. I agree with everything you said here. It was phenomenal, and I don't want to have to wait as long as we will have to wait to find out the next part of the story. Well, at least Mad Men will be back again next month.
  11. Yeah, the first set of the Pros and Cons tour was really the fantastic part: it was a Pink Floyd overview, with a few songs from various albums. Highlights were the opener, Set the Controls For the Heart of the Sun, Welcome to the Machine, Nobody Home and The Gunner's Dream. And of course, the great Brain Damage/Eclipse combo for the encores. That Dead show was my first experience with them, but my very first rock concerts were actually Kiss and Aerosmith. (I think I saw both those bands at the old barn, too, Lammy!) Yes, I was into the hard rock as a youngster.
  12. I can come up with a couple right off the bat. Frank Zappa: The 3/17/88 "Special St. Patrick's Day Program" was the one and only time I got to see the great Uncle Frankie. I truly wish I could have seen a bunch of '74 shows, but this was still a pretty special night. In those days before the internet, we relied on radio, print media, or just plain rumor to find out things as basic as what to expect from a new tour of any artist's, and there was a rumor going around at that time that Zappa had quit playing guitar completely in exchange for the Synclavier. The expectation was that this 1988 Mo
  13. June '73 had some pretty interesting shows... Robert F. Kennedy Stadium, 6/9/73
  14. I have never heard any of this, but I would be interested in it, too. I saw them with my wife about two or three years ago, and Susanna Hoffs still looks amazing, and sounds good too. I have not seen very women age as well as her. She was (and is) gorgeous.
  15. I tried to replace my avatar and couldn't find anything that would work. Now my original avatar is gone, only visible on my profile page. Any help would be appreciated.
  16. I dreamed about banging you again last night And it felt all right to me Opening your Leather Tuscadero thighs I love to hear you scream Doing it to you like a fireworks display Raining down on me And you know what just flowed right out of me To the sea
  17. I only got to see the Jerry Garcia Band once, and that was 9/5/89 in Hartford. I wasn't really expecting any Dead tunes, but we got Deal, They Love Each Other & Mission in the Rain. Of course, those aren't technically Dead tunes, but they might as well be, based on performance history. He also did a great version of the Bruce Cockburn song Waiting for a Miracle. I never have gotten to see Bobby & the Midnites, Weir/Wasserman or Kingfish...just Ratdog. I guess that's good enough.
  18. My pleasure. I was wondering where to go for soundboards after archive.org pulled all theirs, so it was nice to find a few there. I'm not one of those people who wants to collect every single show, but I thought it would be nice to have 20 or 30 more. And it enabled me to finally part with (i.e., throw away) some old tapes that were just collecting dust anyway.
  19. Found a pretty nice site to download mp3 files of a bunch of classic Dead shows, for those who like that sort of thing: From The Stage: Grateful Dead Tours
  20. I'm of the opinion that the handcuffs were over the top, but other than that, I don't think it was abusive. The whole fake "self-esteem" movement in America has created a nation loaded with loudmouthed, egotistical brats who have never been properly disciplined and whose sense of entitlement is truly breathtaking. They run amok everywhere, and literally expect an adult to move out of THEIR way when walking toward them. It's amazing. I would love to see more parents with the mindset of "I'm in charge, not my children," and "If you do something stupid and dangerous, there will be serious conse
  21. I live in Florida, and have had many unpleasant confrontations with cops here, and I am a respectable suburbanite. My experience here has taught me that most of the cops in this area are assholes, and best avoided unless absolutely necessary. I would not trust one of them with anything unless I had no choice. I would say making the "public safety officer" a figure of fear is just plain realistic. In another part of the country, maybe not. Florida, yeah.
  22. Same here. That's the one Jerry tune I want played at my funeral. I would love to have heard this. Glad everybody had a great time.
  23. Just saw your post, mb. Pretty cool! I just downloaded that show, as it has a good rep...although 5/8/77 always gets all the glory. Sitting here listening to 7/2/71...guess I should wait to July to mention that one!
  24. Grateful Dead Live at Boston Garden on 1977-05-07 Pretty great month in Grateful Dead history...
