  1. Carlton Cuse & Damon Lindelof just announced on Jimmy Kimmel that the Season Finale will air on SUNDAY May 23rd. I'll have my thoughts on tonight's show in a bit. I'll be sure to use a spoiler function.
  2. I know but my point is if it wins it could be the 1st film in a long time to win Best Picture without even a Best Screenplay nomination. I agree with you on the screenplay front, but it looks bad that it didn't even get recognized in that category. I looked online to see if any Best Picture winner has won without a Screenplay nomination and came up empty handed. Edit: Although, last year Slumdog Millionaire won without any Acting nominations. Hmm. Lookie lookie !!! The last film to win Best Picture without a Screenplay nomination was.........(drumroll please) TITANIC! LOL History repeat
  3. That was kind of my point. If Avatar wins for Best Picture, isn't it odd for it to not even have a Screenplay nod?
  4. I was thinking the same thing when I read these reviews over the weekend. It would make sense to perform it.
  5. Let us not forget that Eddie Murphy's Norbit was an Academy Award nominated film. I actually loved the film.
  6. Well, I think it's safe to say that if it was the old format these would be the 5 nominees for Best Picture which link up neatly with Best Director. Avatar The Hurt Locker Inglourious Basterds Precious Up In The Air
  7. Plus, there's no surprise for the Best Animated Film category. Let's see Up was nominated in both categories. I wonder if it will win Best Animated? Anti-climactic indeed. Anne Hathaway should have announced that award this morning. Up wins Best Animated and save us all the suspense. You can pick apart the Oscar's any which way and they all begin to not make sense. Such as how can an actor be nominated for a film that isn't up for a Best Screenplay? Are they pulling words out of the air that are qualifying as Oscar caliber? Take a look at Jeff Bridges, for example, he is a sure fire win for
  8. Yes, I see it completely redundant to nominate it in both categories. (Screenplay is different. The Messenger & In The Loop got into those categories and not 2 from the Best Picture club. In the past getting a screenplay nod was like saying "well, you know we only have 5 spots for Best Pic so this is like a runner up category for those 'edgier" films) It's a spot filler in Best Picture and should win Best Animated, so that's why it seems a bit silly to me. The Academy measures against previous years more than anybody. That's why they decided to add 5 nominees to Best Picture to "make up
  9. I don't agree with Up as a Best Picture nominee. Part of it is that it's already nominated for Animated FIlm and the other part is that I thought that it wasn't as good as Wall*E. I knew that The Hangover would never get nominated, since the Academy is pretty snobbish toward comedies. I expected to see Invictus in there due to it being a great film and directed by Clint Eastwood. I also thought that A Single Man and Crazy Heart would sneak in, since I didn't picture District 9 getting noticed. And 500 Days Of Summer I felt should have been in there instead of The Blind Side. I haven't seen An
  10. 6. I wouldn't be surprised if these ticket brokers "sell/give back" their tix to the venue day of to make it appear that there is a ticket "drop". I know that artists have a certain number of seats put aside and they don't use them. But look at how many seats are being scalped for Wilco. If they are not going to be bought, who is going to sit in those seats?
  11. I agree completely. It doesn't flow well at all with their structure of a "documentary" style. So I guess by the show standards Toby showed the "guy" clips from the office from the documentary crew? A waste of an episode.
  12. Happy Birthday Man! Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lz6wYcvu0hc
  13. While in Aruba you need to go to El Gaucho Steakhouse!! El Gaucho The best steak that I have ever had in my 31 years alive.
  14. Is that LaCabana? If so it's very nice, I've been twice in my youth. My parents own a time share there for the last week of April. Too hot for me.
  15. Wow! Extremely cool to see the men with Sir Elton and Leon Russell. My dad is a huge Elton fan and already saw these pictures this morning. So I guess Elton fans may say "who is that?" My dad already knows Wilco through me and gave them a great compliment "definitely the best band out there right now for your generation". (cue dad rock snickers ) It's a shame he's performing with Lady Gaga (at the Grammy's) and not Wilco. I'm sure he wishes somewhere that he didn't already punch his ticket for an episode of Crossroads with Ryan Adams. Anyways, Sir Elton and Leon Russell are working o
  16. For those still curious, it is still on via the DarkUFO website. It looks amazing! Of course!
  17. My new Entertainment Weekly came in the mail just mere moments ago. Needless to say Lost was on the cover. 10 Burning Questions asked to Damon Lindelof & Carlton Cuse. (Spoilers? I'll soon find out) 10 Episodes You Need To Rewatch (I'll wait until June to begin from Season 1) I can't view that video that jcroach has posted.
  18. For those interested, you can watch that Captain America film in its entirety over at Hulu.com.
  19. Jay and Conan morphed together. Problem Solved?
  20. Also, from tvgawker. Kind of interesting analysis of his Jay's character via Wizard Of Oz characters. As with any great shift in action, it's natural to wonder why Leno's behavior changed so abruptly. Using The Wizard of Oz as a guide, there are three logical explanations—and character attributes—for Leno's change of tune. 1) The Scarecrow (No Brain): Leno simply doesn't realize the magnitude of the consequences of his refusal to retire (or, at least, leave NBC), and began the week with a naive, "business as usual" attitude. 2) The Tin Man (No Heart): Leno doesn't care about the effect he
  21. Who takes over for Jay after he leaves or drops on set in 2030? I say fold the show and start a new one. Or put Jimmy Kimmel on The Tonight Show and most of the people won't notice anything except Jay's hair got lighter. I wonder how much of the Jay Leno Show bits & skits he'll be bringing back to the Tonight Show. And I wouldn't invite Conan on to drive in that Green racing thing that he had on. Conan might run him over. Now that would be good tv.
  22. I just find it funny that someone named Jakob Nicholas is talking in his manner on this subject. I picture people on the board looking at him like a child "Jakob Nicholas don't say that! Jakob Nicholas put down that cookie!....1.........2.......don't let me get out my wikipedia quotes" Sorry. It's a very nice name. It just made me laugh after reading all of these posts in this particular instance. Winston Legthigh doesn't even sound like a child's name.
  23. I wish that I could find the quote from Elton in either the 70s or 80s, but he said "I'll never play Vegas like Elvis did before the end of his career."
  24. For anyone wondering why Craig didn't come over and shake their hands, it's because his show usually films the musical guests first. It's such a small space to play and to set up equipment. Unfortunately, when I saw Craig in 06 he had on Trace Adkins. I'm not sure if he sang Bedonkadonk. (I'd be really pissed if there wasn't a red squiggly line under that word. I still find it funny that Wilco is also underlined with that red squiggly line.)
