Sadly, that's all that we have for now. According to their (Coachella) Facebook page, expect an announcement "later this week" and that was on Tuesday.

Interesting list. Here are the U.S. grosses for these 10 films. In my head, it would make sense that the least grossing films in the box office would be the most requested. Or to put it a different way, the movie released in the least amount of theaters. The ones that make sense to me are: Milk, Burn After Reading, The Wrestler, Rachel Getting Married, & Changeling. It should be interesting to see how they match up. Let's take a look shall we? 1. Milk $31.8 million 2. Benjamin Button $127.5 million 3. Slumdog Millionaire $141.3 millio

Yes, and the irony would be that his ratings would skyrocket thanks to the current controversy. Hmm. Conspiracy Theory.. Edit: Report on the matter...Conan/Jay Contract Talk/Disputes Some bits from the article: Despite these unconfirmed reports, there’s still much that needs to be worked out, as many legal experts have also been discussing several things online, everything from whether or not NBC can move The Tonight Show back until after midnight, to any cash penalties that O’Brien may be able to wring from NBC in regards to his contract to host The Tonight Show. What I Hope Happens: It will be revealed to the world pretty soon that before Johnny Carson died his soul took over a 20 year old's body in Santa Monica. Think Being John Malkovich. He took this said boy to KROQ, MTV, & into late night at the tail end of the late night broadcast hours or Pluto as David Letterman said. Yes, I hope that Johnny Carson reveals himself to have never died and has been living as Carson Daly this entire time waiting in the wings to get revenge on "The Chin" and "The Hair" for the show that belongs to him. Carson Daly will reveal his true identity on 60 Minu

FWIW, I sat down and watched my Christmas gift to my dad which was The Jack Benny Program on dvd. It was excellent. I was shocked that I would like something 60 years old (insert joke here). It really was timely and timeless. I really loved the "character" that Benny came up with which was his onscreen persona of a cheap and vain foil. Also, from what I gathered the black character of Rochester broke ground for minority groups on broadcast television at the time. Rochester took verbal jabs at Jack, instead of the typical other way around of the time.

Well, they completely shot & produced Season 2 of Southland and didn't even show it. It ended up on TNT. I'm sure TNT must have bought it off of NBC. For how much, I'm not sure? But that was the closest thing to a hit at 10 that they had prior to this Sept 2009. (in terms of a "new" show) "On May 1, 2009, NBC announced that Southland had been renewed for a second season with an initial 13 episode order to begin airing on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 9:00 pm, one hour earlier than its original Thursday time slot. Shortly before its scheduled premiere, NBC moved the opening of its second

I'll take this one. For me, it came out of my job and its' hours. I would come home and be wired and watch pretty much these shows then go to bed after them. Keep in mind this was prior to DVR. And I liked to see the "movie stars" and musical acts, not just the "bits'. If these late night shows are my "View" or "Oprah", then so be it. I don't know what to say. I really can enjoy them all. I don't know what you would like to see on them. Do you watch Chelsea Lately? Or Daily Show or Colbert Report?

Are you calling Leno, Dave, Conan, Jimmy, Jimmy, Craig, & Carson "not comedians"? (I kid. I kid.)
-
Yes. And he has a small role in the upcoming Hot Tub Time Machine. I think people would tune in for the "they gave him a 2nd chance" factor and maybe would bring in an older demo + a younger one too (from Nat'l Lampoon & Community). I'm not sure where I fit into that demo that I senselessly created. You know what I mean, people who have seen repeats of his classics on the television.
-
Yes, this always has been in the back of my head since it was announced. NBC kept boasting about the low cost of a single episode of the Jay Leno Show as opposed to a scripted hour long drama's episode. "Each airing of Leno costs about $350,000 to $400,000 versus up to $3 million for an hour-long drama, saving NBC $13 million each week without the network needing the show to beat its competitors." Let's get Chevy Chase back on late night. Give Chevy another chance!

To paint a picture of what happened, since honestly a lot of this has been so mangled in my brain. I'm still sketchy on wording/mechanics of Leno's "retirement". I seemed to remember as stated below it was announced that he was leaving and giving the show to Conan AND NBC wanted to keep him on in some way. I seemed to be forgetting if NBC made the move 1st or if Jay did or if they both cooked it up all along. Wiki: NBC announced in 2004 that Leno would leave Tonight in 2009, with Conan O'Brien as his replacement. Leno—who wanted to avoid an acrimonious transition like what he experienc

Yes! Finally! Good sleuthing skills.

This still isn't up on youtube or anywhere.

So then you can argue that the Tonight Show viewers jumped ship to Letterman. I think the demographic that isn't sticking is the older viewers who I've heard say "Conan isn't that funny. I can't stand him." Much like they used to say about Dave and now they are watching Dave?! AND they're not there to watch Jay's show either.
-
Well, I also discussed this with friends of mine. Would you like to see Jon Stewart take over the Late Show for Letterman? Isn't he kind of perfect on the Daily Show? Why fuck it up? Same goes with Stephen Colbert. On paper it sounds good, but when you think about it not so much. How would his audience react to the switch? I'm really trying to find Jimmy Fallon ratings and demo info, but I can't find it. I'm thinking that he's creating his own set of viewers as Conan did in the 90s. I really think it all comes down to the fans of The Tonight Show, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien, and Late

Carson Daly's show isn't that bad now, since he changed the format. No more painful monolog. He has on a lot of cool guests that you wouldn't see on the earlier late night shows. And he visits them at a neutral venue or at their house etc. Plus, the majority of his live acts are filmed performances from Los Angeles venues.

Unfortunately, when Lost creeps back into my weekly viewing routines I check out the "spoiler" site which I won't give you so you can go in fresh. A lot of what you said I think will answer itself, If I am allowed to be cryptic. The numbers and what it signifies is pretty mindblowing. The smoke monster is pretty easy to ponder about, if you think about what you've seen (mostly last season). But yeah some of the stuff that I "fell upon" (Bullshit my hands typed me there) is AMAZING!!! Quotes from different actors, Lindelof/Cuse etc on Season Premiere alone "You need to watch it 3 times or

I don't know something's missing to me. And I still feel like his guests are somewhat lackluster with the earlier timeslot. If we didn't know Conan since 1993, would we like/love him as the host of The Tonight Show? Would we think that "man, this guy would be great if he had free rein to do crazy things"? Or would some people say "Eh, he's ok..you know i like his bits...but he's good enough" ? Like take Jimmy Fallon: his show at 1st seemed like "oh God, how long until they put him out of his misery?" Then he found his footing. It was quite brilliant in retrospect that his 1st guest was R

I'm thinking out loud here, but I'm going to say some of what my friend and I talked about last night. Is the idea of Conan having the Tonight Show better than the actuality of what we've seen since June 1st? Meaning maybe in his head he thinks that he's both right and wrong for the job. It's the concept of it that he loves, yet he can't pull off the execution. I personally think that he has too much of a personality to be doing the Tonight Show. Really. Think about if Dave took over in 1993, I think we'd have the same problem that we're having now. Dave & Conan's sensibilities don't see

Oh man! He's still in character. Put it on ABC for a good laugh. The hair and chin and random head shakes are amazing along with the voice! He's currently doing Headlines with one of his band members laughing like Kevin Eubanks. Edit: Yes, Chevy Chase is dressed up as Conan in character.

LOL! Jimmy Kimmel is completely dressed up as Jay Lamo doing his monolog (as my friend who loves Conan calls him).
