  1. Currently he is in my opinion too. Beckett had a great 2009 compared to 2008. Plus, it's his contract year coming up. Daisuke is really working out to make up for last year's fiasco. If he returns to 07 form, then watch out. Lackey should have less pressure now that's he not the ace. Buchholz if he's around should have a great year. He pitched very well against the Angels in Game 3 of the ALDS. Basically, any of those 4 guys can be an ace anywhere. Best rotation in baseball. If you take out Clay to trade for Adrian and insert Wakefield not so much. (Edit: Oh yeah! I'm so glad that we n
  2. I'll agree that that money could have been spent on Bay or Holliday like I posted above, which I would have loved. But the Sox big wigs wanted to strengthen the rotation and rectify last year's signings of John Smoltz and Brad Penny. Compared to what is out there he seems above the rest, of course pricey. Jon Garland? Jason Marquis? Doug Davis? Not bad. Maybe he'll be the #2 guy, but I can't see Lester being moved down. Although, in the end Francona usually has a strange rotation. Edit: I just saw the small market financial notice. Yeah, it's just a big market team flexing their wallets
  3. I always never cared for him when the Angels used to play the Red Sox in what seemed like every ALDS since 2004. I secretly looked for Chunk in the dugout between innings to see if he was feeding Sloth/Lackey Baby Ruths. Now that he's playing for my team I'm happy, since it obviously strengthens our rotation. Not a bad #3 or 4 guy to have.
  4. I still have faith in Theo despite signing Mike Cameron. Obviously a 2 year rental until one of those big OF prospects come up (Ryan Westmoreland), but I would have preferred Bay or Holliday. Bay's agent really priced him out of any great team. If he ends up on the Mets that will be a shame. I do see the Red Sox getting Adrian Gonzalez at some point before Opening Day. From The High Heat "As the #4 starter Vazquez doesn't have the same pressure this time, plus he is more experienced now. Great Theo Epstein-from-five-years-ago-style trade by Cashman." I don't know. You could argue that it
  5. "Interestingly, Yankees' GM Brian Cashman noted today that the club tried to acquire Javier Vazquez from Arizona after 2005 and the White Sox after 2008, “but we just didn’t match up," reports Chad Jennings of The Journal News." Cashman by Cashman
  6. I could PM you my email. Also, I need to put together my lists which are always yearly into one decade list this week.
  7. All over Sports Center today was the schism between Brett Favre and Brad Childress. According to a Minnesota beat writer I guess 90% of MN fans are in Brett's corner. Kind of scary. I guess being head coach isn't what it used to be. But they did break down everything that Brett said in his postgame interview. They made note how he called his coach directly by his 1st name Brad. He destroyed the Jets last season around this time of year. If a different team picks him up next year, they should have their heads examined. Patriots vs. Colts in playoffs: I think the Pats can beat the Colts.
  8. In a similar vein to remphish, I have seen at least one movie per month in a theater this decade.
  9. Yeah sure. I believe you. I just can't imagine a band (that's "worth it") coming around to your neck of the woods once a month. I guess you maybe see lesser known local acts which is great and fine. I guess to me certain months seem like crap to see a live show like the 1st 3 months of a year. I can't remember any shows in that quarter except for Jimmy Gnecco in January of 06 and Autumn Defense in March of 07(?).
  10. I want to see the list. I keep lists for every movie that I see in a theater. It helps me to remember certain things. I should do lists for concerts that I've seen, but as of yet (?) I don't go to many anymore. Goals: i go to the gym almost every day. I learned how to spell Connecticut.
  11. I wanted to come on here yesterday with my thoughts on this matter, but I didn't want to come across as "Perez Hilton"ish. But I don't see anyone mentioning the "incident' that caused SNL to do the brief spoof. Anyways, my best friend was over 2 Saturdays ago to watch SNL and do take out. Just like old times. When it got to the Brittany Muprhy skit we were laughing and surprised in a "where-has-she-been" type of way. He asked me if I had heard about the story that spawned the skit. I told him that I never heard of it. (i tend to frequent a lot of movie sites to find out what gets greenlit e
  12. I'm holding out for us to finally achieve a certain cyborg element of recording our every daily action through our eyes via mircochips. Just like in Robin Williams' The Final Cut. He played a "Cutter" who edited deceased persons' images/life for the funeral and families. But if we could access our images and lay them onto Final Cut or something similar we could all access our own "little or big moments in our life". Imagine seeing Wilco and not bothering Tweedy with an annoying cell phone camera and just watching the band with your own eyes and knowing that all of this is being recorded for
  13. Hot Tub Time Machine Trailer A friend of mine emailed me the script for this this past spring and I loved it. Extremely fun and funny. Absolutely 80s too! So I'm thinking this could be a great time at the movies this March. Always loved Cusack. It looks like he's going back to his Better Off Dead roots. Edit: Yes, this was filmed and written before The Hangover came out. Although, I'm sure the success of that film will have different affects on people for the "timing" of this.
  14. I've had this recommended to me from fans of Watchmen. I loved the "graphic novel" and the 2 versions of the film (theatrical/Director's Cut). I still have yet to see the "Ultimate Cut" which finally integrates the Tales Of The Black Freighter. I began to flip through this and think that I will find this extremely interesting.
  15. Here's some (a lot) Best Of Lists for 2009 via Ain't It Cool News. Top Ten Lists/Awards for 2009
  16. From the strange advertising it seemed like they all had Alzheimer's or something. They're eating and drinking coffee in a diner booth in the middle of a flat prairie land intersection and laughing and having a good time. Is that where men of a certain age go to have fun? I may watch an episode here or there on the net. My DVR is full.
  17. Hey, this is a great thread. Well, I am not in this band but my best friend is the lead singer/songwriter & guitarist. He's on VC, but he doesn't post often. Bryan Pero & The Tired Horses out of New England (mainly MA). Anyways, here is the page. http://www.myspace.com/bryanpero (and another link for people in a band. I'm sure not everyone has heard of Reverb Nation? Great site) I videotape every time I see them live. I'm working on putting up some youtube clips which is helpful in promotion to get gigs obviously. Lastly, my friend has opened for Ryan Adams during t
