  1. Get a good workout in listening to this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvmytj56Tck&feature=player_embedded
  2. Hey folks, I have 4 tickets that I need to get rid of for Moe Tucker & The Tea Baggers. Sadly, I am not insane. These would make a great gift for the "birthers" in your household or the family dog. Thanks, Abby Normal
  3. New York usually owns them in the post season, unless if I am revising history in my head? Last year they got swept in 3.
  4. A few interesting exclusions that come to mind: Robert Redford's Ordinary People, Bill Paxton's Frailty, Woody Allen's What's Up, Tiger Lily?, Sean Penn's The Indian Runner, Menno Meyjes' Max, Paul Mazursky's Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice, Ridley Scott's The Duellists, John Sayles' The Return Of The Secaucus Seven, Barry Levinson's Diner, Edward Zwick's About Last Night..., Hugh Hudson's Chariots Of Fire, Danny DeVito's Throw Momma From The Train, David Mamet's House Of Games, Jim Sheridan's My Left Foot, Roger Avary's Killing Zoe, Ben Stiller's Reality Bites, Scott Franks' The Lookout
  5. Can I just say GO TWINS?!!! Do not let down Red Sox Nation. This is your year to get "that" monkey off of your back. Think about it: you f'ing lucked out. You're only playing the Yankees in a Best Of 5 series. If C.C. pitches twice and possibly wins both of those games, then you have a very good chance at winning the other 3 off of Hughes & Andy P. Meanwhile, on TBS it's Price vs. Cliff Lee. Priceless. Ah, yes October baseball and no heart attack, butterflies in the stomach feelings since my team isn't in it this year. It'll be nice and relaxing to watch. Is this what it feels like
  6. The Lord Baby Jesus on Kanye West's albums.
  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idoYCVLh2qI This and the theme to Curb Your Enthusiasm lightens up my mood anytime of day and makes me laugh. It's also fun music to play in your car with your windows down. It's just very liberating. Also, Bored To Death reminds me of a cross between the old Pink Panther theme, but with lyrics. And let us not forget the amazing Sesame Street theme. Still going strong. Even if they're afraid of boobies.
  8. There's nothing wrong with it. My point (which I didn't make because I thought it was kind of obvious) was that it often gets overlooked in the early Scorsese period by the likes of Mean Streets & Taxi Driver. Most "cinephiles" & casual filmgoers might think that his debut was Mean Streets because at some point the 2 films I mentioned (Who's That Knocking At My Door? & Boxcar Bertha) are only available on one of the 2 Scorsese box sets and don't get much mention anymore. Same goes with DePalma: one could say that his early "best" films were the mid 70s Sisters & Carrie and e
  9. Love Actually was his first directorial effort. He only wrote Notting Hill, Four Weddings and both of the Bridget Jones'. His 2nd (and last) movie that he directed was Pirate Radio. Four Weddings was directed by Mike Newell. Notting Hill was directed by Roger Michell. Bridget Jones was directed by Sharon Maguire. Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason was directed by Beeban Kidron. It's of no surprise that folks like Scorsese, Coppola & DePalma aren't on the list. Francis Ford Coppola made his start under Roger Corman's eye making such films as Battle Beyond The Sun (sci-fi with a male &
  10. Ah. I didn't realize that, although I know at some point he was shutdown. Maybe Seattle can pick up Santana & Bonderman.
  11. Just watched the Mets' press conference on MLB regarding Manuel & Minaya and the owner using words like "we don't like where we've been, so we decided to 'relieve' them of their duty". Don't you wish that they could do the same to themselves? I mean at what point did they say "ok, this is enough."? The team doesn't really look that bad on paper and I hate it when managers get the boot in a response to a bad season by a somewhat bad team (in relation to the NL East) put together by the GM. I don't see Werner, Luchino & Henry shipping off Theo Epstein after his Hot Stove '09 talk about "

  14. Actually, if anything Adam Scott could be Glenn Kotche. Yeah. That's who he looks like. I got it now!
  15. Not as much as this guy though.
  16. Thank the Mighty Mouse for MLB Network on a day like this and a season like it too.
  17. Nope. No dial up over here. It's just that my iMac is almost running on empty because of all of the live shows that I have downloaded & uploaded to it. I think that I may write a book about it.
  18. Let's really make this thread tough to load.
  19. What I am about to say will blow Christine O'Donnell's mind. In the not-too-distant future we will have evolved to have microchips in our brains and ears and eyes, thus recording our daily experiences. How will the band and record labels and governments go about enforcing that? Where is the line drawn in the sand between personal experiences and licensed live music? Imagine coming home from the Solid Sound Festival and taking that microchip of a 3 day weekend and uploading it to an editing software to make your own personal memento? Will people trade their mementos for 'closer' mementos?
  20. I'll let you in on a little secret: the alt-country/rockabilly revival in New England. Here's some local bands (at least local to me): The Molenes: http://www.themolenes.com/mp3s/04%20Hot%20Damn%20copy.mp3 Girls Guns & Glory: The Autumn Hollow: The Autumn Hollow The Bean Pickers Union: The Bean Pickers Union Mike MacDonald & The Widow Makers: Live Video Dave Sammarco Band: MP3 links They Will Hate Us: The Vinyl Squares: Myspace page (big Everly Brothers influence) Patrick Dunn: Brendan Murphy: Myspace Page Eric Lichter: (not from New England but based out
  21. I saw this last night on a friend's Facebook status. I couldn't believe the news. I almost posted it on here, but I haven't seen many R.I.P. threads in awhile. Or better yet, I wasn't sure how many people know him. Anyways, I enjoyed watching him on the recent Comedy Central Roasts. (in slightly similar news, my father has the complete set of the "old school" roasts back when Dean Martin used to do them. Those are all amazingly funny. I'm happy that they have returned, even if I think the people they choose to roast aren't that 'significant' or 'influential')
  22. I figured I'd take us back to talking about this current closing weekend of the 2010 MLB regular season. It will be quite an exciting weekend and we'll know where the pieces fit for the Post Season. NL East Champion Phillies take on the Wild Card leading Braves in a weekend matchup that could send the Braves home a tad bit early, if they sweep them and the Padres win. (side note: I almost shit my pants when I clicked on the MLB site for the current standings and it was set to 2002. I thought I may have been in a coma to see the AL West belong to the A's.) NL Wild Card: Atlanta Braves
  23. Good story above. And something that I left out in my initial post on this topic, I would like to add now. To me the P90X (or your garden variety "fad" diet) is some temporary solution to what could possibly be a long term problem (weight gain or even to maintain health). I really think people to need to look at the "problem" in terms of a lifestyle change and not jump onto anything for a quick fix. Usually, that may work but only for a 6 month period or whatever. Then it's onto the next "fad" diet or exercise creation:
  24. I typically workout on a treadmill for about 45 minutes to an hour almost 5 days a week. I used to play my iPod loud, but then it effected my hearing a bit and threw me off a bit in terms of my equilibrium. The Unnecessary Preachy Moment: It's all diet really, obviously. People ask me what I've been doing to lose weight and I tell them 60% diet and 40% exercise. I've cut out putting butter on bread and on baked potatoes. I don't go out to eat as much as I used to back in the day. I almost nearly eliminated soda from my daily diet. I like to have one can of Caffeine Free Coca Cola around di
