  1. Oh that's a great backstory! So she wanted to remember how, or maybe check that her way was right. How'd you know her in HS?
  2. I got my 2nd shot yesterday but forgot again to get a photo. So you get to see this pen. It was given to us to fill out our paperwork, and later, as we finished, I went to hand it to the nurse along with the clipboard. "Oh, this is your pen, too." She started to take it but then waved the one she was holding and said, "Nah, keep it, I already have one." Well okay, so here we have my Covid Vaccination Souvenir Pen. My arm hurts, I'm stupid with fatigue, some body aches and chills but overall, mostly more tired-feeling that actually sick. But for sure, plan to take it ea
  3. Ah, but that youthfulness is what makes you so adorable. 😘 And as fewer people around you are toxic, it gets better for everyone. I am getting my 2nd shot on Monday and I'm freaking giddy to think I might finally be able to return to a semblance of normal life! I have had lung issues from babyhood because I was an extreme premie (at 5 mos.) I get bronchitis and pneumonia way too easily, so I know this disease is kryptonite for me. I haven't been inside a store since last March. It's an incredible thought that I might be able to do that again. 😊 Some light at the tunnel's end. We're g
  4. I need a recommendation of something uplifting...funny would be lovely, but not too slapstick. Something with substance and heart behind the jokes. Who's got one?
  5. I appreciate you filling in the blanks!
  6. I make a powerful case for throwing a plant into the ground, and backing away, I think.
  7. I had an empty pot in the garden (still had dirt) that my bedroom looked out on. One day I was at our local nursery and I saw they had plantings of tiny carrots in those 6-well pony paks, so I brought them home and stuck them into that pot. They weren't any too thinned to begin with in their container, and I only thinned a bit and then basically forgot about them, so... They just sorta did their own thing! Calvino, thinning is murder, amirite? Plus it's excruciatingly boring.
  8. Ugh, I was just reading a news report that said that this coming Monday, every state in the U.S. (including Hawaii!) will hit below-freezing tempuratures! The accompanying map looked ominous, with only a small pocket of southern California escaping the freeze. How are you all doing out there? Do you have electricity, especially you Texans? My heart breaks at the mismanagement and suffering going on there. The water pipe breaks, tree limbs tearing down power lines, it's all an incredible mess, and the nighttimes must be brutal. Check in if you can, those of you enduring this deep fre
  9. If you love long, straight homegrown carrots, well, wrong thread. Because what I specialized in this winter was throwing some carrots in an empty pot and then letting Mother Nature do everything else. Mother Nature does a crappy job of thinning carrots. So yesterday was beautiful and sunny and while out wandering in the yard, I stopped to check the carrots. See photo one. 😂 So I thought I'd better pull the clumps. See photo two! What a carrot! After cleanup (photo 3) I couldn't decide if I should try to separate it, or just have it bronzed. Many grueling surgical minutes la
  10. It's not just you. I have felt the same for months. It's a bit of an effort, to put music on...which is weird and ridiculous, because once I do, my mood is always lifted. I'm also finding that I'm currently drawn to more introspective, "quieter" music. It feels like I'm mentally holding back the more boisterous stuff for happier days. The new administration gives me hope that we are headed back in the right direction, but we aren't out of dark times yet. So certain music seems to suit better. Jeff solo, David Berman, Kevin Morby... Have your listening habits changed in this last yea
  11. Wow, becoming a songwriter could get expensive!
  12. This is fabulous and I can appreciate all the time you've put into it! Thank you, and Kristofor and Monty, for all your time and work. Send me a pm with the details of your request, and I'll be glad to pass it along!
  13. It was all about friends who surprise one with handmade beer glasses, and the beer within, and not feeling like doing anything harder than playing my turns on Words With Friends. A pretty amazing song, lyrically, and the soaring melody is pure magic, but since it requires the vocal range of an Yma Sumac to sing properly, we'll probably never hear it. I can't even sing it.
  14. I think I'll go with "Reservations". What say you? Which song hits you right in your romantic heart?
  15. Great list, but when you say Chris for President, I hope you don't mean Christie. And there is at least one other "Day of the week" possibility that I know of, maybe more?
  16. This has been floating around on fb as a generic for any rock song, but it is more fun to try with a specific band with enough output...so yeah, this one! Try this! It's entertaining as hell and also a great revisiting of Wilco songs in your mind. There are a lot of interesting answers even to those that seem obvious, or unlikely....try it. I've filled in my own answers, but you do yours! Answer Each Category With a Wilco Song... Something to Wear... (one wing) A Place... (an empty corner) An Animal... (hummingbird) A Number... (the lon
  17. Just me, a good book, and this handsome beverage in a custom-made birthday gift glass, from a dear Tweedy sibling. A chance to relax for a change. It was a long week. How's your weekend looking?
  18. I have to agree. It's wild to realize some of the names not already honored. Like this one! How is Devo not yet inducted? Nice to see the New York Dolls on the list.
  19. I love The Tweedy Show, and try to catch it, but for me (West Coast) it's on at 7 p.m., and I'm always in full swing of my day at that hour, so I forget! I usually remember in time to catch at least part, which always makes me go back and watch the rest later. They are such balm for the soul, and have been throughout this rough past year. I know the show can't go on forever, but I feel such love for the cast of characters that I'm already proactively mourning its demise, and feeling nostalgic for this bold experiment in modern entertainment! All of which is just to echo the popular sentim
