  1. So what do you think of our upgrade? Go ahead, wander around, get your bearings. It's new to your moderating staff too, so bear with us as we discover together what happens when we click that button! There will be tweaks and improvements as we go, but for now I hope you will all thoroughly enjoy our new community playground! Big thanks to our admin Neuroglue (Tom) for long hours put in to make this happen. We'll all be stumbling around a bit as we adapt to our new surroundings, but please contact a moderator or admin, or post in the Speakers Speaking forum if you encounte
  2. Hey Clients, Just a heads up to tell you that Via Chicago will be down late tonight for some much-needed maintenance. We'll see you all on the flip flop. Estimated timeframe is between midnight to 4 a.m.
  3. That was a terrific show. The last song left me wrapped in warm fuzzies that lasted all night.("Save It for Me")
  4. Wasn't that a great show?!! Loved that closing song after the terrific encore, and all those happy car horns!
  5. Yep, I'm doing a lot of wishful thinking right now. I hope a wish or two are answered in November.
  6. Spreading the Tweedy Show love on a rare outing to the beach at Crystal Cove, CA (I'm going to have to remove this beauty to eat my lunch, though!)
  7. Dearest Jeff, May today bring you balloons and surprising gifts and sprinkles on cakes and blowing out candles without accidentally igniting your beard! I guess by now you know how much Via Chicago loves you. Happy 53rd, you young pup. Keep amazing us. We are so very glad we know you.
  8. How the hell are you? Safe and sound I hope. This storm system sounded intense. Check in & let us know!
  9. I still love those recordings! You still sound great.
  10. I'd encourage all our talented musicians to take part! In the past we did 3 tribute albums here at VC, and each one showcased the gifted musicians who are among our fan base. This time, not only do the Tweedys & Wilcoes get to admire your takes on their songs, but you also get to be a part of a wonderful charitable endeavour! Go on! Do it. Challenge yourself...a pandemic musical Ironman. Let's hear you.
  11. We've lost a brave warrrior for justice. Long live his proud legacy.
  12. I'll bet the Erik Larson is a wonderfully distracting read! He's so good. And Stamped From the Beginning has been added to my list, too.
  13. What a fun, loose show that was! I missed the cinnamontographer though. How fun was Passenger Side done from the backseat of a roadtripping car?!
  14. I don't care how bad of a mood the world has me in, if I watch the Tweedy Show, I leave with a smile on my face and love in my heart. Bravo, Tweedys.
  15. What books have any of you found that have helped you approach this pandemic, or these times? Doesn't necessarily mean a specifically political book. What's helping you weather this social storm?
  16. There are so many ways to be a father...the basic way, or step-fathering, or being the male who fills that role for a child, or even for a pet. You men out there who give selflessly in order to nurture another, today's your day. I don't have the words to express how much you matter. For every child, or creature, that you love and nurture, you are massively countering the ugly in the world. You are protecting the ones you love in the best way possible, by telling them that they matter and they are loved. Just about everything good that ever came from humans came because the individual felt l
  17. What a sad year. The scroll of names at year's end will be daunting...even if it is only a list of known celebrities. And then there are about 90,000 "everyday" people. We've lost some real treasures. I'm so sorry Jerry Stiller was among them. A brilliant performer.
  18. ^ This is great! I wish I could get a bunch to hand out because there are a lot of T.W.A.T.s around my neighborhood!
  19. R.I.P. Fred. You gave me many a good laugh and never disappointed. Go entertain angels now.
  20. Sending deep love and appreciation to everyone out there in Via Chicago-land on this odd and difficult Mother's Day! Don't let the distance bother you. Love transmits. To everyone who has, or is, mothering someone or something, you couldn't be more essential. To kid moms and pet moms and caretakers, we love you to the moon.
  21. I'm really sorry to hear this, Craig. I'm sure she will re-find her footing in the end, but stories like this are all over the country. So many lives being devastated and reordered right now! But soon trump will be gone, and then things can only improve.
  22. Great topic! I haven't chosen a song but it's probably by David Berman.
