Briefing soon from the FBI. I can hear it now..."Uh, we haven't seen him, have any of you?"
-
Yeah, I see that now, thanks Diane. I just meant that it wasn't an admin closure.

All praise to the brave men in blue.

[updated 7:28 a.m. ET] Recapping what a doctor at Boston's Beth Israel told reporters this morning about the death of the man police believe is "Suspect No. 1" in the Boston bombings: He had bullet wounds and injuries from an explosion, the doctor said. Sounds like he somewhat blew himself up. It's hard to feel sorry, isn't it? [updated 7:32 a.m. ET] Police in the Boston-area community of Cambridge say the public should "clear area of Norfolk Street in Cambridge." "Ongoing investigation. Potentially dangerous," This is reminding me powerfully of the lunacy surrounding renegade cop Christ

CNN is reporting that "Suspect 1" has been killed in a gun battle with police, and "Suspect 2" is on the run in a Boston neighborhood. A police officer has also been killed. Here's the link: http://edition.cnn.com/2013/04/19/us/boston-area-violence/index.html?hpt=hp_t1 Be safe, all of you in Boston, and especially in Watertown. [updated 7:03 a.m. ET] The Associated Press has reported that the two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings are brothers from Chechnya.

Great review, Paul! You have a gift for making the reader feel as if they were there. Thanks for all the cool little details!

Well that was fun! It's down to 3 contestants now but I can't say who. Next week's taping is the finale. I think tonight's episode airs in 2 or 3 weeks.

Me. In the audience. Green floral shirt. Also daughter Alissa, son Brennan, and daughter-in-law Sarah. I shall endeavor to avoid falling in the pool.

Wonderful review. i honestly read it with a big smile the whole way through. Fiona, one of my dreams is to travel to Australia and New Zealand some time. If Wilco turns out to be the catalyst, well, wouldn't that be perfect! I would love an excuse to meet you in person. Next Wilco tour through Australia? Mavis is so fabulous. I'm really glad you got her for the opener!

You absolutely should, Fiona!!! -
Ah, I love the Belly-up! great little club. I probably can't go as I'm saving my funds carefully for SSF#3, but you've made this band sound like a lot of fun. Edit: I just listened to them and wow, they are excellent!

Where, Anthony?

Agreed on The Hub...I would have posted this myself but I was unsure I was remembering the name correctly. Their food was good, and very reasonably priced.

Thanks Plumplechook, if I'm still awake at 3:30 am PST I'll be tuning in! -
I hope your day is filled with peaceful, pleasant activities and chocolate bunnies. I heard that if you take two marshmallow peeps and stick toothpicks into them & put them on a plate in the microwave, you can make them "joust". Let me know how it works, somebody. I am peep-deprived.

It's yours. Watch out for the swinging doors. Hey that rhymes. I should offer it to Tweedy. Diane, you're on. Donna Quixote...I like it. now excuse me, I have windmills at which to tilt.

But Diane, I was just putting your name down as committee chairwoman...!

Congratulations! You won't regret it. We will have to stage a VC get-together at some point so people can meet. Maybe Friday?

I don't think polygamy is analogous to a committed relationship between two people, whether those two are gay or straight. Polygamy involves one man having multiple wives, and I find that jarring and ugly because I see it as very sexist and controlling...whether the women claim to be happy or not. I suppose theoretically polygamy could involve a "marriage" between one woman and multiple men, but I've never heard of such an arrangement. I don't think the men would tolerate that scenario because I believe they would feel diminished and subjugated. Why should women tolerate the same? Because male

Totally agree, MrRain & Shakespeare. It has always seemed to me that issues like this are mostly hystrionics pumped up to avoid society dealing with the larger, more serious issues...fiddling while Rome burns. For fucks sake, let's leave the gays alone and focus on figuring out our political budget mess, or what we are going to do to rescue our ruined seas or begin to deal with global warming!
-
As if anyone would choose all the hardship that (currently at least) goes with being gay! I don't believe a person chooses their sexual orientation any more than they choose their eye color. It's so past time everyone stepped back and just let others be who they are.

Adam Ross' short story collection, "Ladies and Gentlemen" is also great. I loved Rock Springs, but man some of those stories are dark.
