  1. Perhaps banners and signs are called for. And Diane, you should bring quantities of bulk-purchased sequins to fling into the air like confetti!
  2. I'm going to be happy with almost anything they choose to play. You've all made some fabulous suggestions! What fun this is going to be!
  3. I wonder if temperatures were the problem, rather than bars being broken? It's 93 degrees today here in ridiculously sunny southern CA. Chocolate wouldn't survive being left in a mailbox!
  4. Our local library periodically has sales to remove older books or books of which it has multiple copies. Shortly before last Christmas they held one, and I was amazed to read that books were $1 per brown-paper-sackful! So I suggested to my family that I'd love a bunch of books as a Christmas gift. I wound up with two big boxes of books, most in excellent shape and many in "like new" condition! They run the gamut in subject matter (mostly fiction) and so far the selections my family made have all been terrific reads. Yesterday I finished Imagining Robert by Jay Neugeboren, an absorbing and movi
  5. Thanks, that was wonderful to re-watch! It really reminded me of how very much there is to see and do in the too-brief weekend! I'm always left realizing that I missed several acts and barely saw the art or the lovely town. That's ok though; it just draws me back to the next SSF.
  6. Oh, I like how you think! Maybe Sue has a bedazzler!
  7. I came across this old post from Lotti, from last August: "Dear Mr Jeff Tweedy, I thank you for demonstration of ways of the Abba on past year. I have taken great pleasure from your Love Whole. Mr Pat also absorb teachings in sound quality - Lofty Place is just like Polar Studios of olden good days! But, we all know it - Ha! Ha! No doubt you give him the big hints in this direction! So, have good schnapps breakfast as in our custom, and meaty feast later in style of Mr George Forman, as in habit of your country. Then it is time for the Abba party! I hope to start your balls rolling in thi
  8. Rally the troops! Extra schnapps for the troop-rallyers! There are bound to be recordings, ladies. I'll make sure you each get to hear this, should it occur. You will both be with us in spirit.
  9. Good to see you, Peel!
  10. That's the spirit! Let's hear from those of you submitting Waterloo. Lotti raises a toast of the peppermint schnapps to you. Or maybe it isn't specifically to you, but because schnapps thins the blood, thus making Lotti better able to withstand those low, low temps in reindeer-herding regions. Your guess is as good as mine. But hey, peppermint schnapps!
  11. With who as the bride?!? It's looking like a pretty clear sweep for Waterloo, currently with 21 votes. The next closest contenders are Dancing Queen with 6 and those would-be write-ins for SOS would be about 5. I'm surprised Fernando got only 2 votes...I could really see Wilco rocking that soaring tune! I have heard from Lotti and she is thrilled with your support of the Abba. She would respond personally but is currently herding reindeer on the high plateau, where " the nights are very short and the days full of schnapps breaks and sleigh accidents (not entirely unrelated)". Truly she is
  12. Well, if the write-in votes should overtake the rest, we'll have to consider it.
  13. SOS almost made the cut. Just a bit on the sad side. I thought the SSF crowd would be more inclined to bouncy pop.
  14. You should fly that past Tony's office.
  15. Glenn would be all over those distant drums, but who would they get for bugle? Perhaps multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone has hidden bugling talents.
  16. A bit what? I like Lotti regardless.
  17. As you are probably aware, "Wilco’s Friday night set at Solid Sound will be comprised exclusively of fan-requested songs, including covers. The band is now taking song submissions and promises to learn 50 of the requested songs." I think we can all agree (and I know Lotti would!) that we would be missing a golden opportunity if Friday night's set did not include an Abba hit. With a tip of the hat to our beloved Lotti, I offer you this poll so that we can determine which song best suits our Wilco boys. Your vote is essential to this process! After careful deliberation, I have chosen th
  18. I had the privilege of seeing him once in a small club setting, opening for someone I've forgotten. We were at the front center table, right against the stage, and my then-boyfriend Duane got bored waiting for the show to begin. We could hear noises behind the heavy red curtain, and Duane gave in to curiosity and eased the curtain up to peek under. Somebody on the other side leaned down almost right into his face and startled him so much he dropped the curtain. I asked Duane what he'd seen and he said not much, since he'd dropped it so soon, but the guy had "the most enormous feet!!!" he'd eve
  19. It's like that final scene in Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid! He's got nowhere to go.
  20. I hope they can get this done while they've still got daylight.
  21. Shots being fired in Watertown. This may be it. http://www1.whdh.com/video/7newslive
  22. That's hard to look at...all that fear evident in everyone else in the picture, and this boy strolling calmly along, knowing he's just killed and horribly maimed people. Wow.
