Ok I laughed out loud there. Good stuff.

I haven't been too impressed by the Heatmiser albums. I suppose if you're a completist they could be interesting, as an unfolding and growing of an artist, but they didn't do much for me. Mic City Sons is the best of them. I love Elliott's voice so it is good to hear, even on songs that aren't his best.

I agree with Anthony. I loved both, with a slight nod to "Fierce Invalids". Much fun!

Miss you, Elliott. Your music plays often in our home and cars.

I love these jokes. Add yours if you like. ~~~~~~~~~~ The programmer’s wife tells him: “Run to the store and pick up a loaf of bread. Our local sheriff is Sheriff Stanley Sniff. I'm pretty sure voters like Don put him into office.

What would have to be included? What songs say Autumn best for you? I'll start with an obvious choice: Autumn Almanac - Kinks

http://modernfarmer.com/2013/10/cowbells/ I love that, as a kid, Glenn saved up for a cowbell.

Terrific video! Thanks!

Moss, the book is called "A Land More Kind Than Home" and the author is Wiley Cash. Seek it out. It is a beautiful, painful story that will linger in your mind for a long while.

Faulkner can be such a struggle, but once you're inside the story, it's captivating and so rewarding. Let me know when you finish that...I have a great follow-up book for you! Not Faulkner, but Faulkneresque.

...I saw that SarahC posted a thread about the Autumn Defense's upcoming tour dates, but I wanted to send out a reminder for the fans in CA for this weekend's CA shows. It kills me that I have other commitments that will keep me home...if you go, please write up a bit of a review for those of us who have to live vicariously this time around. Both dates look amazing. Tomorrow night's show info: Friday, September 27 9:00 PM ~ Doors 8:00 PM All Ages $15.00 The Chapel 777 Valencia Street San Francisco, CA Here's a link. Looks like a terrific little venue! http://www.thechapelsf.com/ and the

That's chilling!

I'll have to read Colossus...I'm sure it's fascinating! I visited Hoover Dam two years ago & saw the memorials there to the workers killed during the building. Tragic stuff.
-
You should really get around to that.
-
As did I, just now! See you there. I also tried for 12/15 but after filling everything out, I got a page with a sold out message. So it may have just sold out. Try for the 18th, and good luck!

I need to re-read this. Haven't since High School & I don't remember much. That "Rant" book sounds really intriguing! I always get the best recommendations from this thread.

Congratulate Mr Jeff Tweedy for Being Older This Day!
kidsmoke replied to Lotti's topic in Just A Fan
Hey Lotti, I saw an article the other day describing the fight between Swedish miners and reindeer herders over miners wanting to mine traditional reindeer-grazing lands. Of course I immediately thought of you! I hope this isn't impacting your livelihood. Welfare! -
Very sad. So young!

Yeah, that password glitch keeps popping up occasionally. Please, use the contact email (viachicago@rocketmail.com) listed in the VC Rules & Regulations if you encounter this, and we'll fix you right up.

My deepest sympathies to the whole Tweedy family.

Tracy, I know a son of yours had to have been a wonderful and compassionate man. The photo you've posted breaks my heart, to think of his children without him. I don't have the words to say how sorry I am, but you are in my thoughts and in my heart at this painful, tragic time. Much love to you.

Too many songs, concerts, friends, and memories to begin to thank you for, Jeff. Have a beautiful birthday! -
I loved "Tenth of December". Except "Puppy".
