I'm sure you wowed them. Good luck!

That sounds outrageous....spending an entire year chasing around the globe trying to sight the most species of birds! I'm a bit of a birder too, and each of my 3 kids had an extensive birding project for high school biology, in which they had to sight at least 50 different species and otherwise identify and describe where & when sighted. It was HARD! After about the first 30 or 35, every bird was a species you'd already seen. The birds had to be sighted in the wild. We got our quota, with each child, but we had to drive up into the local mountains and down to the beach to find more specie

No kidding. If that goes it'll be bad.

Yep, that got the dogs to barking. A solid jolt, a pause, and then a few more good rolls underfoot. Such a strange sensation they are!

This story appeared in our local press earlier this week. The 15 stretches down to San Diego and is a freeway I've taken many times. At the point described, just beyond the Border Checkpoint (a weirdness in itself, in a sort of Checkpoint Charlie way) this freeway is about 4 lanes wide on either side. I've been imagining what it would have been like to be driving home from San Diego, and come upon this scene! That middle paragraph in the second section...60 motorcyclists fighting across the lanes?!! Must've looked like a scene out of a modern day West Side Story. Who knows what started it

That's great news!

This is an interesting read: http://www.wired.com/autopia/2014/03/mh370-electrical-fire/ I'm no aviation engineer, but his take on it sounds plausible. The simplest explanation is often the best. (Occam's razor)

That poor kid!

That's lousy. I hope the healing process goes quickly.

I'm the original poster. I guess I know what I meant when I posted it. This is an incredibly sad story, but at the same time there's a strange and surreal quality to it.

From Courtney Love's fb page. Apparently someone has spotted this bit of ocean on the search site Tomnod. Smartasses there commented, "But what are the odds of the plane going down right next to that red arrow?" and "If Courtney Love has found the plane...!" Courtney comments: "its like a mile away Pulau Perak, where they "last" tracked it 5°39'08.5"N 98°50'38.0"E but what do I know?"

Two listens and I was hooked. I've got the song stuck in my head. Great lyrics: "A feather's not a bird The rain is not the sea A stone is not a mountain But a river runs through me" I love that.

Cool! I will join you in being Polish on Dyngus Day, despite that I'm mostly Norwegian.

I know we've all become numbed to events such as this one, since with trying to survive daily life sometimes having any emotion left for a tragedy that doesn't directly affect us seems like asking too much. But this one is really affecting me...maybe you too? It's breaking my heart that all these lives were lost (one assumes, anyway) in such a needless and maybe deliberate way. There were infants aboard...I feel heartsick that their lives had barely begun. There were parents who left small children behind. There were pairs of lovers. One man left his wedding ring with his wife, to give to thei

As their motto says, "Where the beer is cheaper and the only hipster is you." I heard this Roseanne Cash song yesterday and thought it was gorgeous. Wish her vocal could be heard a bit better, but that's a minor complaint.

Remind me again where you live, Joe, I've forgotten. And keep the faith, Spring is closer than it seems. I'm already sort of dreading what promises to be a long, hot CA summer!

Vibes that all goes well with your MRI, Tim. Got some potatoes and radishes planted yesterday.

Puddles made me sad.

The best tiny show I ever saw was Rock Plaza Central at the Beauty Bar in San Diego. It was an intimate little space, and the audience was only 6 people and the sound guy, actually fewer people than the band onstage. A real pity because I've never seen a more moving and heartfelt show. I would easily rank that night as high as any live show I've ever seen. -
I completely spaced St. Patrick's Day! Don't judge me too harshly though, I'm only Irish by marriage, which is to say not at all. But my kiddos are half! Your feast sound wonderful!

Me, nada. But that's alright, I don't mind a peaceful weekend at home. But daylight saving time has come and Spring has sprung! So how are you spending the weekend? Those of you with exciting plans, I can live vicariously through you while I try to clear out the kids' old toy sets from under the bed and all through the closets!

Welcome to VC! Love your username. I hope someone will be able to give you a lead to a recording of this show. I know how satisfying it can be to get to re-hear a show that powerful!
