Doubt I'll get the new album ... I got into MMJ by seeing two shows, which were awesome, may see them again in Columbus is if it works out, but I did not get into them through the studio records, so I think I'll pass on this one

never seen them, I don't gush over them, but man that first album was really good, as was "Mykonos" from the EP (the rest of the EP didn't do as much for me) ... I will be getting this new FF record shortly and am excited, I had kind of semi-forgotten about them

My twin brother in DC won't listen to Wilco, The Decemberists, The Flaming Lips, Okkervil River, Stereolab or any band I have liked in the last 10 years He listens to Bruce Hornsby and old Yes albums ... the last band we had any joint liking of was probably Phish, though he started listening when I was finishing ...

Agreed about Jenny - I get the sense that she is a strong person, though Love the new album, and hey, I really liked Hazards in a different way too, both really well done in their own elements The Columbus show a few weeks back was very good, we got "The Tain" opener too, and "The Mariner's Revenge Song" at the end

I will get this in a day or two, have been looking forward to it as for MMJ, loved the two shows I saw, not so much into their recent studio output

I do agree that some of this is true about "The Suburbs", though

Love "Funeral" very much and "The Suburbs" too, I play those discs often ... "Neon Bible" has never clicked with me as a whole though I've spun it a dozen times through.trying to like it. "No Cars Go" and "Keep the Car Running" just aren't inspiring to me. I do love "Antichrist Television Blues" though ...

well, good call and good luck ... they put on a very good show and I think the focus will be a on variety of songs and styles from their whole catalog this time, unless I'm plain wrong

unfortunately, as the owner of a 16 year old, I can tell you they do worse things than that nowadays ...

that is very similar to my approach and how I feel ... as someone who hasn;t been around these parts in a while, I'll just give my 2 cents without going back to read this whole thread -- I think it was a nice, safe little album with a few good songs, nothing horrible and nothing risky, not bad but not memorable

I'm majorly awaiting this ... but bummed at no Ohio shows on the list!

Been a big fan for about 5 years now, and I'd absolutely say go see them live as a casual fan. in fact, this may shape up as the perfedct tour to do that as there should be a good mix of their music and not a whole rock opera shoved down your throat ... I will be there at the newly announced Columbus show! ah, yes it is indeed, one of their best ever

well, as with every REM album since 1983, I will buy it when it comes out semi-looking forward to it, hope Peter is right
