  1. Well, it does somewhat, and it's certainly an undercurrent influence that's been there for awhile I'm happy they did Chemical Chords - Tim, Laetitia and Andy seem happy, plus they say there are 20 more eclectic session tracks they're going to pare down for a next CD shortly - I'm more interested in that, really. I just have not connected with Chemical Chords itself like I did the last two releases and indeed much of the back catalog. But I love "Pop Molecule" ...
  2. I'd say so. It's got some rock, some kraut, some great songwriting but very few gimmicks, plus they don't fuss with the strings and horns -- I prefer when they just keep it to the groop.
  3. I knew you'd be a prime candidate, plus you reciprocated with some fine vintage Floyd and Roxy Music I'd never heard The new Stereolab album is a taste I have not yet totally acquired, except absolutely download the standout jam, Pop Molecule To me it still comes down to the string of 90's CDs "Transient Randon Noisebursts With Announcements", "Mars Audiac Quintet" and "Emperor Tomato Ketchup", then you augment the collection with ABC/BBC, Margerine Eclipse and Fab Four Suture - maybe "Cobra and Phases Groop Played Voltage in the Milky Night" Of course, i've got them all, every last one
  4. So, what do you think? I'd go with some other of the newer albums or some various downloads personally . . . Long live the 'Lab
  5. Well now, this is a pretty big issue for me. I have absolutely loved the last two releases Fab Four Suture and Margerine Eclipse, as well much of the back catalog - Stereolab's close to the top on my list in general. So of course I greatly anticipated the release of Chemical Chords. I was disappointed with the first single release "Three Women" - I thought it was vanilla, and it really did nothing for me. "Neon Beanbag" has more pep and energy - it's a good album opener. As a whole after 10 listens through, I still have some disappointment, really. Very few tunes or even sequences or rhythms r
  6. hope he stays clean 'til March, bro . . .
  7. and man is Hampton a shitty place to see a show
  8. OSU can easily slide back in, you know it . . .
  9. Yep, much better than I'd even hoped. However, as far as other favorite bands, I was disappointed in Stereolab's "Chemical Cords", after loving the last two releases, "Fab Four Suture" and "Margerine Eclipse".
  10. Columbus got hammered by 75+ mph winds. I lost an apple tree in back and power for 2 days - just came on. My neighbor had his new car smashed. Schools have been cancelled for 2 days also. Getting along OK though compared to those in Texas, I really feel for all of you - take care of yourselves.
  11. that's me actually, I liked her voice a little better on the last CD (Rather Ripped)
  12. I like when they actually play the game of football instead of making up some different OT game with different rules
  13. Charlatans UK - Some Friendly definitely qualifies man, I've always loved that disc
  14. "I did not do drugs with that man." great night
  15. good luck, it's a buyers market so that's nice I do litigation but have handled many closings. Title search/insurance is necessary to close the deal, but you can offer and proceed pending getting the title policy. Make sure you get and read all their required disclosures - fraud is always lurking. Also, get an independent reputable inspection for yourselves ($250 approx). PM me for any specific advice bro, since I've alwayhs said I love both bands in your name. Plus, I grew up in Westfield in northern NJ - is this anywhere near there?
  16. I was too late on this (usually I'm too quick) Didn't I win this goddamn thing last year or the year before??!!? Or maybe I finished 5th, can't remember . . .
  17. well, I'm here now and I'll weigh in First, the 70-75 Gabriel box set with DVDs and all is being released very soon, like this week. Frankly, I've got all the remastered CDs and then forked out $40 for Archive 1 a few years ago, and you (Scott) benefited from it in the form of some gabriel era concert tracks and the Lamb live. So, not sure if I'll buy it right now, but I go over to the Genesis boards about once every other month (I'm "peng" of Stereolab fame there if you want to do any reading) and if the DVD reviews are good I'll buy and pass on the info in this thread. Anyone else who want
  18. Stereolab - Transient Random Noisebursts With Announcements
  19. Yup - mainly because it's the only one of the first 4 games to be on f*cking TV in Columbus on Time Warner due to the war with the Big Ten Network
