Ok make your list...I'll bet none of them have the audience or influence of a limbaugh a dobson or a hannity. On top of that these guys get invited to the white house to hear about policy and get inside scoop. Good job on tossing in the leftist whack-job comment. Very constructive I'm not stereotyping when I say that the Bush adminsitration and the years of republican rule have been a disaster. And I'm not advocating using the "stereo types" (Racist, hate the poor etc...though my brother in law fits those nicely) No, I'm advocating that every democrat candidate needs to run on th

Regardless of his influence on you personally you have to admit that Limbaugh and so many others of his kind, Hannity, Dobson, Coulter, Malkin, O'Reily, etc... do weild considerable influence over a fairly large number of "conservatives" and republicans. It is exactly this influennce that gets these guys (conservative talk show types) invited to the White House again and again.

Sorry Bobbob but is has to be pointed out and pounded home every day just how badly the republicans have failed on nearly all levels during the Bush admnistration. From Iraq to that taxpayer hosing prescription drug bill to all the corruption that blossomed and flourished. That should be included in every democrat stump speach. They should point it out , point out that it calls for major change and then tell how they are going to deliver that change. It's campaign time, get used to it. Besides republicans never tire of their standards do they? You know them by heart now...Teddy Kenned

The limbaughs of the world don't like lawyers anymore than they like actors though.

I have to weigh in one last time and then I'm out of here... I can not believe than anyone who has heard Thompson speak and seen any of his campaigning actually thinks that he is a qualified candidate. Dottering fool is all I can think of when I see him speak. He makes Romney and Giuliani look competent. He would easily be the worst candidate republicans could put on the ballot except for one thing and one thing only...uninformed voters would vote for him because they would only think of his TV persona and that would be enough for them, that and those who will vote for any candidate with a

Ohio 2004 was where the exit polling might have failed, but the FEC released areport showing that the polling may not have been so far off. Though it was issued way to late to have any effect.

It is not actually a conservative issue how they ran the government, though I fully believe that conservative fiscal policy does not work. Nope they were the republicna party doing what they wanted when they wanted to do it. They became so power crazed so quickly. Even back in the watergate days which I remember I can not think of a time when there was so much blatent corruption from one party. Couple that with the power crazed modus operandi and you have a recipie for the republicans to be completly bounced. Heck look how they are currently eating their own. Look how they treat Paul, th

Well IKOL it is a simple matter of them having complete control of the government and doing whatever they wanted. If you can not see that they screwed up everything they touched then there is nothing I can do or say that will open your eyes to it. By the way nothing conservative since 2000? Tax Cuts every single year for 6 years? What a bout the murder/suicide law of 2009 (estate tax fgoes to 0% for one year)? The Patriot act which seemed to land in congress fully formed with little democrat input? That particular act has been on their back burner for years waiting for an opportunity

There is so much unrest with the electorate that I think turnout will be huge and democrat. Look at Iowa and see how many more dems turned out. Treu more republicans turned out than '04 but the dems had a nearly 3X increase in turnout They did not exactly dismantle the cabinet, but they sure as hell neutered it by filling every available position with political appointees. And by political appointees I don't mean the usual kind where lets say a person would get a job based on both qualifications and party affiliation. Party affiliation was seemingly the lone qualifier for this admi

I don't mean to bash Bush but this quote from him on the no child left behind program is priceless... "Look, I recognize some people don't like accountability. In other words, accountability says if you're failing, we're going to expose that and expect you to change. Accountability also says that when you're succeeding you'll get plenty of praise."
-
I would generally agree with that and think it would be great if there were no parties at all, just competing phillosophies and grass roots campaigns. However there is way too much money already sunk into the two major parties and they are too entrenched in government and in the pshyce of our people. Thus they stick around.

my .02 on this is that the Republican party had control of everything (still do in a sense) and they were able to enact nearly every policy they had on their wish list. Turns out their theories don't work in practice. Turns out that they are bad at governing. The current state of our country today is nearly all directly the result of republican policy, period. Some will say but but Hillary voted this way,, or Obama voted that way and they will be right but the democrat position or votes for the six years prior to 2007 were irrelevant because of the power grip republicans had on the governm

If you like Kings of Leon they have a couple of Live EP's out there.

I didn't read this whole thread, so i don't know if it was mentioned or not, but I think Hot Rod was one of the better movies I saw this year. Completely goofball, but funny and charming in its own way

Pleasant surprises: Dino Jr - Beyond is much better than I ever would have imagined it could be...a reunion that worked. Robert Plant & Allison Krauss - A really nice listen Kings of Leon - These guys are straight forward simple RNR but they do it well and are maturing nicely. Don't laugh... Pink - I like it more than I thought I might. She surprises me. Disappointments? The record industry as a whole DBT - I love 'em but the EP on Itunes is eh/shrug in other words nothing to get excited about.

I'm sorry, while I can not vouch for the other two I can attest to the fact that Johhny Lee Hooker was performing way beyond his sell by date when I saw him at Guiness Flayed (sp) several years ago (1998). I was embarassed for him. It seemed more like an SNL parody than a legend performing.

I was around when the old Wilco message board existed. That place was taken down by the administrators and the survivors migrated to a number of different places including EZboard, Postcard (many were already here), Welfare Music and eventually here.

Peter Buck/Rick Buckler and Randy Rhodes Birthday today. Rhodes would have been the same age as Buck (51) had he lived. Roy Orbison passed away 19 years ago today.

There should almost be two categories of movies the emotional heartfelt drama's and the comedies. I like Miracle on 34th street, It's a wonderful life and A Christmas carol for drama types and A Christmas Story and Bad Santa for Comedy.

Hostage situation at Clinton campaign office in N.H.
John Smith replied to Sir Stewart's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
My bad, apparently there is still one person being held hostage. I had read earlier that they had all been freed. I honestly don't get the OK City reference. I'm anxioulsy awaiting what willl be said next. -
IF GF three did not exist I would vote for GF, however that steamy pile is part of the public record and inspite of the greatness of the first two it is bad enough to pull them out of contention. LOTR it is for me, not a bad flick among them and the extended versions are that much better than the originals.

Hostage situation at Clinton campaign office in N.H.
John Smith replied to Sir Stewart's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Wow it only took one post...now I'm waiting anxiously for the "It's Clintons fault..." stuff to start arriving. Sounds like the hostages are now free and the guy who is the perp is a local nut, but those are preliminary reports, who knows what the real truth will be.
