  6. woohoo! forgot to mention that after the show i was hanging out near one of the edgefield bars, talking with some other fans. laura viers and tucker martine walked out of the bar and i went, "oh! hey! hi!" in absolute uncool, fangirl fashion. i told all the people around me, "that was laura viers!" and they didn't know who she was. selective geekiness.

  9. every girl's gotta have a hobby. really, these days i only get to see weekend shows. my job is seasonal, so in the off season i have a couple months off. makes getting to shows pretty easy.
  10. **this is a copy and paste of my post from the mmj board. i've ammended it in that i've posted the rest of the setlist for the show.** there are about 18 layers of why this weekend was so special. i love visiting portland. beyond it being full of amazing coffee and beer and yarn, it's home to some of my closest friends. without exaggeration: i sing out loud the whole time i'm there. saturday before heading out to edgefield was spent with friends at Genie's (12th and Division)--a tremendous breakfast restaurant with a full bar. veggie benedict and bloody marys to beat the band. an

STILL cannot think of a good word for how she dealt with rhetoric and bs. and she was never a jerk about it. just clear. and mel, i really wanted to have spend some hours late on saturday at voodoo donuts, but never made it.
  12. inspired! chris!! poppy!! so many fantastic sculptures!! this thread feels wonderful. and heartbreaking. thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts and emotions here. i was in portland on saturday and carried nat with me all day. i was staying with good friends. one of them met natalie when we all went to a jeff show together. sat. morning as we were heading out i wanted to tell them it was natalie's birthday and all, so i said, "hey, i don't want to get too emotional here.." they both jumped in with, "bring it on!" that's what i'm getting here, too. the world was a better pl

  17. ha! i loved the description and intent behind "hold that thought" last week i saw an exhibit at the oakland airport that was a collection of advertisements culled from lifestyle magazines marketed to black americans between the 70's and 90's. the artist had removed all text and logos from the ad to show just what the ads were selling. (i just did a search to see if i could find any pix, or names involved in the exhibit {artist as collector} and found two women who'd seen the exhibit, but didn't photograph this ad, alas.) what first lured me over to the exhibit was a display of about 30 anti
