  1. That's great. Did he know about the drinking game?
  2. Ben Sheets threw a complete game 2-hitter today. Rare enough to see complete games at all nowadays, let alone in the first game. I would be expecting more than 3 K a game from him, but hell, if he throws like this every game I won't complain.
  3. My team so far today: VMart: 1-2, RBI Weeks: 1-1, R Zimm: 2-3 Sizemore: 1-1, HR, 2 R, RBI Granderson: 2-4, R Pronk: 2-3, 2 RBI, 2 R Sheets: 3 Innings, 1 R, 3K So far so good. Hopefully the guys playing later on will keep it going.
  4. Yeah, he does the Tigers games, along with the ugliest man on television, Mario Impemba. Are you sure we're talking about the same guy?
  5. So far so good for all 3 of the Injuns on my fantasy team! Sorry, Kate. Tigers are losing too.
  6. I'm sure Harrelson is not as grating to White Sox fans. But since I only watch him when they're playing my team, his homerism really grates, and the endless string of catchphrases is unbearable. And yeah, I know all local sports broadcasters are homers, but he's worse than most. I believe you've said the same about Rod Allen, cryptique, who I always have just found to be a loveable idiot, so I don't know, maybe it's just me being an out-of-towner.
  7. My first game was Yankees at Tigers. It was a group thing for my brother's Cub Scout troupe, of which my dad was the leader, and I got brought along. Not sure exactly when it was, but probably sometime in '87 or '88.
  8. I almost didn't have it up in time for opening day! Although I know how much you loved the creepy Lou Reed avi.
  9. In my roto money league, Reyes was the only one I had in the game. In my b league, which is head-to-head, I have Beltran. Tried to get Carpenter in the roto league, but the guy drafting before me took him just as I was going to snag him. Glad not to have last night's numbers, but for the year I'd imagine I'd still like to have him around. Morgan is horrible, and I hate Bill Walton, but neither are nearly as bad as Tim McCarver. My most hated sports TV guy is Hawk Harrelson, but I think the flat out worst has to be McCarver.
  10. Working on it. It was Kate's influence. Tell her that.
  11. I'm totally telling my mom that you're being a bad influence. My brother is going to that game. What an asshole.
  12. Seriously considering calling into work tomorrow.
  13. The Cards also had a boatload of injuries to deal with on their way to finishing at .516. Yeah, they were playing their best ball when it counted most, but it also helped to have everyone healthy.
  14. Alright, I guess I'll have a real go at this. Lou Reed Jack White Robert Pollard
  15. 8 teams, standard 5x5 roto league: C Victor Martinez 1B Richie Sexson 2B Rickie Weeks 3B Ryan Zimmerman SS Jose Reyes CI Nick Swisher MI Howie Kendrick OF Grady Sizemore OF Jason Bay OF Barry Bonds UT Travis Hafner BN Todd Helton BN Curtis Granderson BN Stephen Drew SP Jake Peavy SP Ben Sheets RP Joe Nathan RP Huston Street P Rich Harden P Chris Capuano P Bob Wickman P Scot Shields BN Rich Hill BN Dan Wheeler BN Noah Lowry
  16. Lou Reed, Lew Reed, and Lou Reid.
  17. Fo' realz? Wow, news to me. My bad.
  18. Hopefully not too long. I don't know why Durbin got the spot to begin with. I could also see Ledezma getting moved into the rotation, although with the loss of Jamie Walker, I guess he's the main lefty out of the pen, so they'll probably just keep him there.
  19. It was their only album, and therefore it was both. And yeah, they did release a bunch of singles beforehand, but I'm sticking with it.
  20. Do EPs count? I will say no. The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico X - Los Angeles The Clash - The Clash Patti Smith - Horses The Zombies - Oddessey and Oracle Arcade Fire - Funeral Big Star - #1 Record Elvis Costello - My Aim is True The Pixies - Surfer Rosa The Stooges - The Stooges
  21. I will come down for Customer Service Representative appreciation night.
  22. I actually enjoy it, but yes, it has gotten universally terrible reviews. Here's the thing. Almost all of the reviews focus on the lyrics. This is stupid. Yes, the lyrics are not all that great, but when has Iggy been a good lyricist? The Ashetons both sound amazing, Mike Watt is Mike Watt, and Iggy is singing off key, yes, and some of his lyrics are ridiculous, yes, but so what? It is a fun record, nothing more, nothing less. I think a lot of the critics have sort of forgotten what the Stooges were about to begin with. I think that a lot of them are probably younger and didn't get
