  1. The Arcade Fire The Good, the Bad and the Queen The Stooges That's the extent of my 2007 listening so far.
  2. I was really bummed to read that story in the Reader when they ran it. Definately will be getting some Oberon on my next trip to Michigan. I did go to the bar at the Bell's Brewery once. That was the shit.
  3. Just finished my draft for my head to head league. The draft started while I was still at work, so the first half of my team was auto-drafted, but I think it worked out okay: C Ivan Rodriguez 1B Gary Sheffield 2B Rickie Weeks 3B Miguel Cabrera SS Miguel Tejada OF Carlos Beltran OF Grady Sizemore OF Corey Patterson UT Frank Thomas UT Delmon Young BN Chone Figgins BN Felipe Lopez SP Brandon Webb SP Matt Cain RP Bob Wickman RP Joe Borowski P Chris Young P Erik Bedard P Jorge Julio BN Matt Garza BN Kenny Rogers Sort of a
  4. The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico The Clash - London Calling X - Wild Gift The White Stripes - De Stijl Neko Case - Blacklisted I guess.
  5. I think it looks sort of neat, but it does not fit in with its surroundings even a little bit.
  6. Yes, it was all luck, but still amazing.
  7. "The Lonely 1" is a great song, that has been scientifically proven to be the third best song on Being There.
  8. You should be happy. Maybe he'll be able to hit now.
  9. Meh. Wouldn't be the first time Wilco and Son Volt played at the same festival. If it happens, it will lead to all sorts of crazy speculation about an Uncle Tupelo reunion set, but it means nothing.
  10. I'll say this much: closers are used in one-inning, three-run-lead situations significantly more often than they are used in tie games. Would anyone disagree with this?
  11. That's one of the most often overlooked aspects of the A's success over Billy Beane -- they consistently throw someone in the closer's role, turn them into a name, and then trade them well over value. The fact of the matter is, pretty much any Major League pitcher could easily put up 40 saves a year if his team is good and he's used in save situations consistently. The majority of saves, as bobbob said, are simply a matter of not giving up 3 runs in an inning. Most managers misuse their bullpen horribly. In theory, the closer is the best guy in the bullpen -- wouldn't you be better usi
  12. I read another AP article that said that he requested that there be no memorial service. Otherwise, this would be fucked up. Bud Melman deserves a damn funeral.
  13. I had a friend who went to Central who, when they abandoned the "Chippewas" name and started going by "Chips", thought they should just add and extra letter and be the Chimps. I like it. Anyway, my school didn't have a moscot, which was great because I hate mascots. It was fun when other schools with mascots played there though, because lots of them had routines where they attacked the other teams mascot, but since we didn't have one, they'd just bring one for us. Purdue's Wolverine looks fucking ridiculous (it's pretty pathetic looking -- I'm sure it's just stuffed into a box the other 3
  14. I'm sorry, but your league must be terrible.
  15. Oh yeah, it's a great album, but if you listen to it too much, you're bound to blow your brains out. Quite the downer.
  16. If you're in a really deep league, then Zumaya is a good guy to have. This is of course assuming that you don't need anymore starters, and that there aren't any good closers available. I like having a middle reliever or two -- a lot of times they'll bring down your ratios, and in Zumaya's case will pad your K as well, without eating up a lot of your innings. My draft is a week from Saturday. I'm getting antsy. Your cousin has no business playing fantasy baseball. I hope he doesn't have any money riding on that league.
  17. Do it. If you can't make it to the show, those tix should be pretty easy to unload. They sold out 3 shows here in minutes, so I'm not catching them this time around, but I saw them on the Funeral tour, and they are not to be missed if you can help it.
  18. Actually it's on Down by the Old Mainstream, not Weird Tales.
  19. I love how bad officiating is always proof of a consipiracy, instead of just being bad officiating.
  20. Yeah, the Heat are good. My point was just that, well, you make it sound as if the East belongs to the Heat and so long as they play their game there's nothing any other team can do about it. And that's just wrong. Even if the Heat are playing their game, they can lose the East easily.
  21. If the Pistons are playing like they are now, then the Pistons beat the Heat easily. Sorry. Shaq is awesome, but not awesome enough to beat the Pistons when they're rolling. Now, I dont' know that the Pistons will be playing as well come playoff time as they are right now, but I think their recent play shows that they're the best team in the East, even when Shaq is hot.
