  1. In the 1980s (when I was born), my name was the 142nd most popular name for boys, and the 537th most popular name for girls. In 2005 it was 587th for boys, and not in the top 1000 for girls.
  2. Reminds me of my days playing roller hockey.
  3. I mean, its only the most important book regarding baseball since Ball Four. What the hell were you waiting for?
  4. Nice for the boards today to revert back to this old avatar of mine. Good timing.
  5. I'm sure glad that nothing has happened in college football since November 26th.
  6. I mean USC should beat UCLA pretty handily. But you never can tell...
  7. Oh, and tonight's game doesn't really help the argument for USC/ND being one of the great rivalries. Total mismatch.
  8. And down goes Arkansas. I can't believe I have to root for Notre Dame.
  9. Whoa, he is totally feeling that music.
  10. That guy's getting a pretty good payoff for having one good year after several extremely mediocre ones. I wonder how much he's getting just because of that one catch alone. Everyone thinks he's the greatest fielder around because of that. He just had by far the best year of his career at the age of 31. I'd have to assume he'll be back to his normal self next year.
  11. I just looked it up. It was 2002, Tejada and Zito. Before that was Frank Thomas and Jack McDowell in '93.
  12. Oh, that's a little tougher...let's see... '02? I know that that was the year that Miguel Tejada won the MVP. Not sure if that was when Zito got his Cy though...
  13. Hmmm...I don't know. He certainly had a hell of a season, but MVP might be a bit of a stretch. But maybe only a little bit.
  14. I say fuck 'em both. Fuck the Yankees worse though.
  15. Awesome. I may check Cliff Bell's out when I'm in town this week. The Bronx might be the bar you're thinking of. It's not on Cass, but only a block away (at the corner of Second and Prentiss--just west of Cass and south of Warren). It's just a little dive bar with two great juke boxes and really good prices. I love that place. On Thursday nights you can even get your haircut there. The Third Street Saloon used to also be very close to there. Closed a little over a year ago I think. I've been to Detroit Beer Co. a few times before Tigers games. For Pistons games though, if we v
  16. Uh...that formula says Jeter has a 66.1% chance actually.
  17. It's remotely possible that he thought he was channeling Lenny Bruce or something. But I think he's probably just a racist asshole.
  18. 29% isn't all that great. Where did you get that stat from? I'd be curious how that ranks compared to some other guys. 3,000 hits looks nice, but combined with the 20-25 career home runs he's likely to end with, I don't know if the Hall of Fame would be automatic.
