Where are the cool new bars in Detroit opening up? Corktown? Midtown? Perhaps I'll see if my friends want to try somewhere other than our usual (the Bronx and the Lager House) when I'm in town this weekend. Although I really do like to go to one or the other whenever I'm there.

That's one of the worst thing I've ever seen. Talk about overpaying? Yikes.

LOOGY = my favorite baseball term

Yeah, I don't blame athletes for chasing the money. Yeah, the difference between 7 million and 8 million seems minor to us peons who won't make that in our lifetimes. But hey, their careers are over by the time they're 40 for most of them. Why not get what they can in the mean time?

I heard that he did it because he's an alcoholic and was molested by a priest as a kid.

Yeah, I don't remember there being one in the slide show, but I was deferring to your memory on that one. But there's definately one in the movie (when he's asking his...I don't know, was that his harem? "What should you call me?" and one of the guys said "McFly?")

There was a McFly reference in the film, too.

No. But there's a big difference. Texas got completely destroyed, at home. Michigan lost a very close game in Columbus. That being said, as much as I'd love to see Michigan get a shot at the National Championship, I will not complain if they don't. It would be odd to be the champions of the whole nation but only be second place in the conference. Doesn't make sense. If they get the shot, I'll of course be rooting for them like a motherfucker though. -
I agree that Pujols was more deserving, but Howard at least isn't a bad pick. He had an MVP season, just not the best MVP season out there. Deserving, just not the most deserving. There have been much worse award picks in recent memory (see: 2005 AL CY).

Someone should maybe point out that that trailer is NSFW.

I had fun too! Thanks again for inviting me along, Kate. It was definately unlike any other film I've ever seen before. Conceptually, visually, everything. I have no idea if I liked it or not. The slide show stuff at the beginning was interesting too, atlhough went a little long. He seemed very gracious in the way he answered questions afterwards, but yeah, as Kate said, he just went on and on and on. Each segment of the evening was intriguing on it's own, but the 1 hour slide show, plus a 70 minute movie, and then over an hour+ of him taking questions added up to a very long evening.

This year, though, he put up monster numbers in an extreme pitchers park. No, I don't think he'll repeat that again. But I think you may be shortchanging him some. It's not just the steals. He does have excellent power too, even if it's not really as good as this year would indicate. Putting him in centerfield is pretty fucking stupid though.

Future NFL Hall of Famers? What does that have to do with the rivalry? Not a thing. And the others...well, they demonstrate that those teams have been good and have had some great players. That impacts the rivalry, sure, but doesn't prove anything. The Michigan/OSU rivalry tops it because of not just the length of the rivalry, but also the drama of it. And I guarantee it's way more heated. There's a big regional aspect to Michigan vs. Ohio State that can't be replicated by schools that are as far away from each other as Notre Dame and USC. The fact that Notre Dame and USC don't compet

Haha, I that's probably the most visibly drunk I've posted here. Awesome.

yeah, i feel for crable too. it was a dumb penalty. to be fair to him, they would not call that pentaly about 80% of the time. but it was legit, even if they wouldn't normally call it, so i can't complain too much. both teams made bad pentalties tonight. ohio state's were actually worse, so its hard to say that that was the difference. two excellent teams. the better team won. i am very sad, but at least it was to the best team in te country.

IOkay, so i got up at 6:45 so we could be to Duffy's by 7:15. by then al lthe tables were gone, but they were still allowing people in to stand. we didn't want to stand for 7 hours befpore the game even started so we tried mad river, which is the other michgian bar. mad river wasn't open yet, and there was bout 50 people in line ahead of us. we should have had no trouble, but people kept cutting. so by the time they opened, we got in, but couldn't get a table. so we went to hte lion head which si where we uisually watch. much more neutral, but cheaper and still fun. we werer there a long tim

I just had a pretty heated discussion with a friend of mine regarding Bo's legacy. So the question I pose to you is this: To what degree does the fact that Bo was responsible for firing Ernie Harwell tarnish his status to Michigan sports fans? I recognize that not all Michigan fans are Tigers fans, but there's a lot of crossover...and man, everyone I know was furious when Ernie got fired... -

I think the way in which the media is already overstating how this will inspire the Michigan team is sort of crazy. I mean, none of those guys played for him, and they're all probably too young to even remember him coaching. He was just an old dude who hung around practice sometimes to them. I'm sure they liked him and respect his place in the history of the program, but I really don't think it's going to make a difference, as I should hope the team was already feeling pretty inspired to play hard even before Bo died. -

The Ticket? That's pretty rough. You must really hate Musburger. He is pretty awful though. -
Who the hell wants to share a house with O.J.?

They'll be strangling each other up in heaven. No, Woody is in hell. Bo could be too, but I think not. -

When I worked at Hiller's, I'd always see Bo there buying some green onions. And when I worked at Spot's, whenever I delivered to Schembecheler hall, there he'd be, sitting in his office smoking a cigar (and doing nothing in particular -- I'm not sure exactly why he had an office). But yeah, he was still a big part of Ann Arbor right up until the end. Actually maybe a bit overrated as a coach, but he was the face of the program, and he will be missed. Maybe this will inspire the team a little bit. Too bad he couldn't have lasted just a little bit longer. Going on the eve of the Ohio Stat -
Well, it was $500,000 base salary with a ton of incentive clauses. I don't know exactly how much he made this year, but I'm sure it was at least several million. Good deal for him from the Jays though.
