  1. I think it means that, as part of his deal, he wouldn't end up with a criminal record as a result of it. He agreed to pay the fine in exchange for not having a conviction or guilty plea on his record.
  2. I thought that he admitted it but copped a deal.
  3. Of course some voters base their votes on a certain agenda. But that doesn't change the fact that if OSU/Michigan is a close game, it would be perfectly legitimate for them to still be ranked 1 and 2 afterwards. They may not lose in the regular season, but if they beat either Michigan or Ohio State in the national championship game, it would be a big upset, IMO.
  4. A-Rod has a career batting average of .305 and averages over 180 hits per season. It's not like all he does is hit homeruns. And the Yankees have the best record in baseball nearly every year. If there's a reason that they've struggled in the playoffs in recent years it is their PITCHING. They score more runs than everybody, but they can't pitch (and yes, I realize they didn't really hit against the Tigers in the ALDS--but every great team has slumps). Why do so many people think that the solution to their pitching problem is to replace Alex Rodriguez with a minor leaguer?
  5. Sort of. All teams get all the revenue from merchandise sales within their stadium, and within a certain radius of where they play. Anything from outside of that home area, as well as online sales, etc. goes into the big pool that is divided evenly.
  6. If it's a really close game, it wouldn't be that hard to justify.
  7. Well if he was playing for those teams, he wouldn't be living in Ohio, and would probably be committing his crimes in other states. So there.
  8. In exchange for the entire team? A-Rod and Sheff are great players, but I don't think they can cover that much ground in the field anymore.
  9. Also, Clarrett hasn't actually played football in a couple years. If he was still playing, there is zero chance he'd be headed to jail, at least in Ohio.
  10. I love that song, and yeah, there's a certain something that is nice about the way the narrator feels about being the only person left on earth with his love...its cute, but at the same time, well, the rest of the world is dead. Not that happy of a song.
  11. I willfully acknowledge that Derek Jeter had a fantastic year, and that he is a legitimate MVP candidate. That being said, it sure is fun to rip on him, and giving him the Hank Aaron Award is definately ridiculous. Anyway, from FireJoeMorgan:
  12. It's not my fault! Blame it on the rain... (cue Milli Vanilli) (on second thought, don't)
  13. The Velvet Underground - "The Black Angel's Death Song"
  14. I can't skip my Friday Halloween party because my band is playing at it. Looks like I'll have to miss a WS game. :-/
  15. Haha, I have no idea why I typed racist. Meant rapist. Whoops.
  16. Totally the wrong board for this, but there Baseball Prospectus book Baseball Between the Numbers has a great breakdown of Ruth vs. Bonds, and Bonds is actually closer than you'd think. Ruth still has the edge, but if Bonds has one more decent season he could pass up Ruth in a lot of those metrics.
  17. Seems like an awfully big jump to assume he's a racist because he was getting some girls' numbers. I'm certainly not saying that he isn't, but I mean, dude... Anyway, I worked with a guy who's girlfriend was a victim of Larry Harrison's porch masturbation. Hilarious.
  18. This Michigan football player sure did get punished for his illegal behavior. He's my personal favorite football playing criminal.
  19. Both Toadies albums were absolutely fantastic. I miss them. Awesome band.
  20. I love Tanx, but I think I'm weird that way. I think Electric Warrior and The Slider are the concensus starter picks.
  21. I think bobbob was referring to what Jeter said about A-Rod to the media, not anything that went on between them in private. There's a big difference between not being best of buddies in the clubhouse, and actually talking shit about a teammate to a reporter. Big difference. I thought Ortiz's comments were sort of whiny, but not really dick-ish.
  22. That makes sense. You really did your research. Anyway, good thing they have 3 easier games in a row now. That way Lloyd could hand out a 2-3 game suspension to Arrington and still have him back for OSU without the team being hurt too badly. I think they can still win the next 3 games with a receiving unit of Breaston and some scrubs, especially since Manningham will probably start playing at least a few drives per game pretty shortly.
  23. You're old. And you have a remarkable memory. I don't think he actually played very many games.
