According to Jon Perrotto, at Baseball Prospectus, the new frontrunner to sign Mark Teixeira is the Nationals. They're apparently about to offer him a 10 year, $200 million deal.

I've been collecting unemployment since July. It's a pretty meager check -- not close to enough to get by on. My severence is running out soon, so every time I get a check it's actually sort of depressing as I realize how screwed I am if I don't get a job within the next few weeks.

He's still only pitched 8 postseason games. Not much to work with there. For example, as dominant as he was in the regular season, here were his stats after his first 8 starts of this past season: 2-5, 6.55 ERA, 47/20 K/BB That didn't stop him from finishing the year 17-10, 2.70, 251/59

Young is definitely the worst pick in the group. Not historically bad (still a long way to go before the Palmeiro GG gets topped) but pretty bad. He's a great bat for a middle infielder but his glove is nothing special.

I'm sure Maddux is still a fine fielder, but they gave that to him because he gets it every year. There isn't even much pretense about that when it comes to the Gold Glove. This year's picks are better then usual though.

Perhaps not, but he is certainly far more in touch with the majority of the black population than John McCain is, and more than any other major party candidate in history. So why shouldn't they have voted for Obama?

I love Vonnegut but this barely sneaks onto a list of his 10 best, IMO.
