I bet you're really proud of that one.

I think voting for third party candidates in local elections is usually great, and in Presidential elections its fine if that's what you really want to do, I just think that people are fooling themselves if they think that voting for a third party candidate in this election is going to make a bit of difference. None of the third party candidates are really forcing any issues onto the table very successfully, and the stakes this time are too high to let a Republican win (IMO of course). In other elections, with lower stakes, and with third party candidates who actually stand for something, th

I like Obama. Is it okay if I also listen to Radiohead? I'll probably be listening to neither on election night though.

I agree, I was responding to WilcoLP#7 who said its a bad thing for the best band in the world to wallow in sorrow.

I have no problem with people not going to games until the team is good. I'm obsessed so I'll go see shitty teams all the time, but I don't blame people for not putting up their money to watch a team take a shit on the field. The Rays were terrible for their first 10 years and play in what is widely accepted to be the worst ballpark in baseball, so why should people care? In some instances I think fans supporting a shitty team can actually be damaging in the long term because it gives ownership very little incentive to improve the team. I say that as a guy who went to probably a half doze

During the 1988 election, I was a first grader, and every class at my elementary school voted on who they thought should be President. I gave an impassioned speech in favor of Dukakis, and apparently it worked, because my class was the only class in the whole school that didn't vote for Bush. This will be my third time actually voting for President.

Why does a band have to be uplifting to be the best band in the world? Not to say that Radiohead necessarily is, but I would think that the quality of the music is the only factor in determining how good the band is, isn't it? Why do they have to make you think happy thoughts to be good?

Not sure what you mean by "repeal" in this context. Roe v. Wade isn't a law, its a court decision. Republicans in Congress wouldn't really have all that much power to try to overturn it themselves beyond getting anti-choice judges appointed to the Supreme Court. If the court tips anti-choice, then all it takes is a state legislature to pass a restrictive law, which inevitably would lead to someone filing a lawsuit, which, regardless of the outcome, would be appealed until the Supreme Court either chose to hear the case or not. No, Republicans in the U.S. Congress will likely not try to pa

Going to Chicago....what to do, see, stay, etc.

Yeah, Pequod's is delicious and incredibly cheap too. By far the best pizza for the price in town. -
It's probably true that those in the "elite" group probably would have paced themselves a bit differently with someone else out ahead of them, but would the official winner really have been able to run a full 11 minutes faster? Seems like a stretch. Impossible to know of course.

True. Plus he could also cook a really delicious brontosaurus burger.

Haha, Colbert just showed a clip of McCain speaking at an ACORN event in 2006. Why was he associating with those who wish to subvert democracy?
-
November the fourth Cannot get here soon enough Can't handle this stress
-
He's got some valid criticisms, but Radiohead is still probably the greatest band in the world.

This is what all the stink about ACORN is really all about -- disenfranchising voters:

I like the Blitzen Trapper album, but it's not nearly as good as their last one.

I am rooting for the Rays but predicting Philly in 6.

Four pitchers in an inning? I like Maddon but he may be micromanaging a bit too much here. Edit: Make that five. Jeez.

What do you mean? I was summing up my understanding of bobbob's position, if that wasn't clear.

He doesn't support anybody. No candidate is better than any other. All are equally qualified and equally unqualified, equally virtuous and equally sleazy. No matter what your perspective is, you are deluded. Obama is just as bad as Bush and Bush is just as great as Lincoln. Anyone who is inspired by a candidate is stupid and delusional and anyone who is turned off by a candidate is hateful and lacking perspective. You know I love you bobbob, but you're easily as fanatical and close-minded about your viewpoint as anyone else here. Fundamentalist centrism is still fundamentalism.

have a great one

The second half was a lot more of what I expected. They looked great early, but did you really think Threet could keep it up for 4 quarters? I wonder how much better they'd be this year if Mallet had stayed. He'd still be working with very shallow receiving core, and no real offensive line to speak of, but Threet and Sheridan are both terrible, though Sheridan is definitely a lot worse. I was watching at a bar so I couldn't hear the audio, but my friends that I was watching with thought that Sheridan came in because Threet was hurt again. It's the only explanation that makes sense, since

I know that Reagan, for one, was a lefty who was forced to learn to write with his right hand. Not sure if there were others. I'm pretty sure that Garfield was actually ambidextrous. Edit: From wikipedia...
