  1. I really wish Obama did have a culturally liberal agenda.
  2. I don't think we're about to see martial law, but I think it's incredibly naive to not be at least suspicious of this. As has been pointed out, this is a drastic change to American law and policy that has existed since the Civil War. For those who are accusing others of wearing tin foil hats, please please explain to me what the innocent purpose of this is? I personally don't know what the true purpose is, but whatever it is, it can't be good. And the reason I don't think it will happen is just that I think there would be too much resistance to it from those who actually have some powe
  3. At least the debate here over who is to blame for this mess is focused on people who were in power at the time that various laws/regulations were enacted or un-enacted. The other day Secretary Paulson actually placed part of the blame on "future administrations". Somehow.
  4. As if blind partisanship is the only reason someone might oppose a McCain/Palin ticket.
  5. Have you bothered to educate yourself on any of the issues? If that's all you really know about any of the candidates, then you could probably stand to do some reading. Information is not hard to find.
  6. I'm sorry for not recognizing your high level of satire before. I can't believe I didn't pick up on it before. You're really good, dude. You should write for Colbert.
  7. Yes, truly. I wouldn't mind seeing that either, I just don't think it will ever happen.
  8. Cancelling the debate would be stupid, but at this point I don't think I'd have a problem with them switching the topic of the debate -- with everyone watching Wall Street this week, it might be prudent to have the economy debate tomorrow and save the foreign policy debate for later. Although by now both sides and the media have probably done too much prep work for a debate on foreign policy for anyone to agree to it, I would imagine.
  9. You have to be joking! How is he less qualified than Palin? And if saying things that are factually wrong is damaging as damaging as you're implying, then McCain should have withdrawn by now. Yeah, I can't wait.
  10. Who said it was a microcosm for everything wrong with America? I think perhaps you're the one blowing it out of proportion. It won't happen unfortunately, but Bob Barr is trying: "For the past several elections, candidates have used the [Commission on Presidential Debates, the organization responsible for organizing debates] as an official buffer to keep competition out of the two-party presidential contest," Barr said in a statement. "McCain publicly proved with his announcement what we've been saying all along: The candidates call the shots as to when to debate, where to debate and wh
  11. Yeah, it's really not that big a deal compared to all the many bigger lies he's told. It is a distraction, though an entertaining one, as Letterman was on fire.
  12. As far as Presidential campaign lies go, the lie to Letterman is pretty unimportant, but I think it does reflect how easily and willfully McCain lies.
  13. He told Letterman he was canceling so that he could return to Washington immediately, but instead he showed up on the CBS Evening News and then the Clinton Global Initiative forum thing this morning before heading back to Washington. That's how it's a lie. He said was doing one thing but then did something else. Hence my assertion that Letterman would probably have gone easier on him had he said that the CBS Evening News would be more beneficial to him than going on Letterman, rather than making something up about going back to Washington right away. I agree with you that appearing on the
  14. What would a President McCain do if two crises arose at once?
  15. All sports fandom is, at it's core, pointless. Other than being a whole lot of fun. And I think taking cracks at other teams is part of that.
  16. I bet that Letterman wouldn't have been as hard on McCain if he had said "Listen Dave, I think that my time is better spent on the CBS Evening News than on the Late Show" rather than lying and saying he was going back to Washington right away. It was a pointless lie, but indicative of how the McCain campaign has handled itself.
