It's okay. I'm not overly impressed but it does what it says it will do.

Unfortunately I had to miss Plastic People of the Universe because we had no one to come feed the dog, but I really liked Little Cow and Black Mountain (who were LOUD!!!) and of course Neko was great. I really amped for Tim Fite today.

All that said, I really hope the Tigers try to sign K-Rod this offseason.

Just for fun, let's compare 6 relief pitchers this season: Pitcher 1: 65 IP, 2.08 ERA, 73 K, 7 BB, 0.92 WHIP Pitcher 2: 66 1/3 IP, 1.49 ERA, 73 K, 6 BB, 0.71 WHIP Pitcher 3: 65 1/3 IP, 1.65 ERA, 64 K, 16 BB, 0.83 WHIP Pitcher 4: 65 IP, 2.35 ERA, 74 K, 34 BB, 1.34 WHIP Pitcher 5: 85 1/3 IP, 2.32 ERA, 88 K, 37 BB, 1.15 WHIP Pitcher 6: 62 1/3 IP, 1.44 ERA, 68 K, 17 BB, 0.95 WHIP One of these guys is being considered a strong candidate for the AL Cy Young Award this year, and is even being touted by some as an MVP candidate. If you chose Pitcher #4, the one with the highest WHIP and rela

He's got my vote, that's for sure. The world has a lot to learn from Joe Strummer, even now. -
And I agree that sometimes too many stats can be overwhelming. But I just wish that in those instances where they only give you a few stats, they'd give you better ones that tell you more. Batting average, wins, saves etc. are what are getting in the way of understanding the game, not OPS, ERA+ and K/BB.

I think perhaps its a chicken and egg situation. It could be that clubhouse chemistry leads to winning teams, but I think it's just as likely that winning leads to clubhouse chemistry. Winning is fun and everyone is easier to be around when you're winning.

Yeah, I understand that that is what lead directly to his departure, but the picture that Schilling and Merloni paint is of a guy who has been a problem for a long time: He's not saying that everything was great between Manny and his teammates until this season. Yeah, but 25 HR along with a lot of stolen bases at a high success rate, and a supposedly a great glove, and you've got a pretty good player.

I thought he'd live up to the hype, though maybe not so soon. When he was up with the Tigers last year, he was swinging at absolutely everything.

Manny affected the clubhouse chemistry so badly for so long that they won two World Series.

I'll be there both days.

What a joke. Palin doesn't believe in transparency, only in "transparency". -

Isn't one of them in Bad Religion now? -
They haven't really played very much with the line-up that was projected at the start of the year, mainly do to injuries but also due partially to suckage (and then later to the Pudge trade). The bottom half of the order really isn't all that impressive right now (Sheffield-Renteria-Rayburn-Inge-Ryan). The top part of the order (Granderson-Polanco-Ordonez-Cabrera) is probably as good as anyone's but the rest of the order just fell apart this year, with Guillen getting hurt, the lack of a real left fielder (though I think Joyce will be good enough next year to really deserve the starting job)

What's with that campaign commercial that Sean Hannity is in? Wait, what? That was an interview? -
Tigers are still trying for 1,000 runs I see.

Just look at McCain's current proposal. He wants to set up a commission to look at the problem. What kind of leadership is that in a financial crisis? He wants to take a look at it and get back to us on it in maybe a year and a half or two. -
I would say that it shouldn't necessarily disqualify him, but I think a lot of the people who actually get to vote traditionally disagree.

Thanks. I was reading it "Svee-um" and I knew that couldn't be right.

Can someone help me out here? What is the correct pronunciation of Sveum?

Sort of late on this, but I just stumbled on this nugget at FJM:

I really hope K-Rod ends up a Tiger, and that they don't overpay. Impossible though, I know. He's going to be overpaid by whatever team he ends up with.

I'm not sure that Jesus was actually a Marxist, but I don't think being born 1800 years before Marx precludes the possibility. If his philosophy matches the criteria, then he's a Marxist, even if that term didn't exist yet at the time.
