I'm not even really sure what you're talking about, to be honest.

Is this the right place to bring up the new Ron Suskind book? -
Less oil consumption = less emissions = less global warming, is I think the point there. A lot of right wingers moan about people taking personal responsibility rather than expecting the government to do things, so I think it's funny that when Obama asks people to take some responsibility by maintaining their cars, that's patronizing.

Who suggested legislating it?

Is there a Republican talking point that you don't just regurgitate mindlessly? Obama did not suggest that inflating tires would free us of our dependence on foreign oil. What he said was, properly inflated tires and tuned engines will keep our cars more gas efficient, saving people a few dollars. Do you disagree with that? Also, if every car in the U.S. had properly inflated tires and tuned engines, it would save more oil than offshore drilling will provide. McCain aired a commercial mocking a picture of Obama on a dollar bill before Obama made this statement.

Seriously, no one in the world deserves that less than Watt. And he and the Ashetons probably aren't exactly rich. Totally sucks.
-
Crazy as that signing seemed to me last week, I get it now. Kwame Brown sucks, but there were no better options and he was available for relatively cheap.
-
Sure, but he's probably still an upgrade over Theo Ratliff.

Hadn't seen them in a while. It was fun. Renic, sorry I couldn't find you. We headed over there too late to get that close.

I was really disappointed by the Gutter Twins album. My top 25 so far: 1) Tim Fite - Fair Ain't Fair 2) Fleet Foxes - Sun Giant EP 3) Evangelicals - The Evening Descends 4) Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan - Sunday at Devil Dirt 5) Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes 6) Crystal Antlers - EP 7) Russian Circles - Station 8) The Dodos - Visiter 9) The Raconteurs - Consolers of the Lonely 10) Portishead - Third 11) No Age - Nouns 12) Erykah Badu - New Amerykah, Part One 13) Kaki King - Dreaming of Revenge 14) Cadence Weapon - Afterparty Babies 15) Stephen Malkmus - Real Emotional Trash 16) Los Campesino

Lollapalooza....would like to hear about it...

Raconteurs were good -- it was weird because I'd seen all those guys play before, but not together. Would have liked to have been closer for Radiohead, but they were great anyway. That's all I saw yesterday. Didn't get there until sort of late. Will get there a little earlier today. -
Happy birthday, Kate!!

Yeah, I don't understand the strategy. His message seems to be "Look at how much people like Obama."

Yes, quite a bit. Mainly TV news more than the printed media though. Glenn Greenwald does nice work with ABC news here:

I'm used to Michigan being ranked too highly at the beginning of the season. Usually they're ranked in the top 5-10 whereas it should be 15-25. This year they're #24, and I think that might still be too high.

I wonder when the major media outlets will apologize for telling everyone that the anthrax letters came from Iraq.
-
No real reason to think this other than that he's available, but I'm thinking the Tigers new backup catcher will be Paul LoDuca.
-
I doubt it. If that were the case, Manny probably wouldn't have waived his no-trade clause. Also, I think those were Steinbrenner's rules, not Torre's.

Here is an interesting article by former Twins GM Terry Ryan about what GMs do as the trade deadline approaches.

Belichek sex tape, Moss is a great guy, Bruschi is an asshole, etc.

I understood what you were going for actually -- I almost said Murray and Palmeiro for that half a season they were on the O's together but that was before Palmeiro had 500. I was actually just flat out wrong on when Matthews and Aaron hit their 500th. Oops. Another instance of two 500 homer guys in the same line up before they hit their 500th, though, is Thome and Manny back in Cleveland. Also Ted Williams and Jimmie Foxx.

Eddie Matthews and Hank Aaron.

In other news, the former Attorney General has landed on his feet back in Washington.
