  1. Wow, maybe Alan Keyes was on to something after all.
  2. Closest to: Barack Obama You are 20% economic left You are 9% more progressive You have a substantive agreement of 81% Furthest from: Fred Thompson You are 69% economic left You are 89% more progressive You have a substantive agreement of 19%
  3. A-Rod is good enough, but I think some of the writers make a point of making sure no one gets elected unanimously, so someone won't vote for him just to stop the unanimous selection.
  4. According to rivals.com, he is the 3rd best recruit at his position, and #6 overall.
  5. If the last 7 years have taught us anything, it is that success in the Republican party is based solely on merit and has nothing at all to do with cronyism.
  6. Biggio is a maybe for the HoF. No way is he a first ballot guy.
  7. Honestly, I can't imagine how any of the schools that Pryor is considering would allow him to play basketball too.
  8. Excluding steroids guys, because that complicates things too much... Definate first ballot guys: Ken Griffey, Jr. Greg Maddux Alex Rodriguez Pedro Martinez Ichiro Mike Piazza Maybe/Likely: Pudge Rodriguez Derek Jeter (I don't think he's really a first ballot guy, but think he will be viewed as one by the BBWAA) Frank Thomas Manny Ramirez Randy Johnson Too early in their career to really speculate, but because it's fun to: Albert Pujols Johan Santana Miguel Cabrera Ryan Howard Jake Peavy
  9. If Jim Rice had played anywhere else (other than maybe New York), his case would have run out of steam already.
  10. I'm not worried about Mallett leaving so long as Pryor does come to Michigan as expected. And if he doesn't, well, we're screwed.
  11. Sorry, but there is a discussion. He's a borderline guy, and a case can be made for him, but there's a strong one against him too. Why can't there be a discussion? It's not like we're talking about Babe Ruth here.
  12. Really? That's my least favorite GBV album. Different strokes I guess. I just heard this for the first time a couple days ago and am really digging it.
  13. I'm a Tigers fan and I love Tramm, but no way is he a Hall of Famer. Anyway, it looks like Gossage is the only one who got in this year. Rich Gossage 85.8% Jim Rice 72.2% Andre Dawson 65.9% Bert Blyleven 61.9% Lee Smith 43.3% Jack Morris 42.9% Tommy John 29.1% Tim Raines 24.3% Mark McGwire 23.6% Alan Trammell 18.2% Dave Concepcion 16.2% Don Mattingly 15.8% Dave Parker 1
  14. Clearly the Republicans are at greater fault for the sorry state that we're in right now, but it's pretty hard for me not to give some of the blame to the Democrats for going along with it every step of the way.
  15. I actually said that exact thing to my girlfriend during the show last night. I think I recall that on the original series, they made you wait 10 or 15 seconds before climbing back up, but I may be imagining that.
  16. You're actually right, that was Van Earl. I don't remember him as a Headline News guy, but he also did sports for Channel 4 in Detroit for a while. I knew the voice sounded familiar but I couldn't place it until you just mentioned that, and Wikipedia confirms it.
  17. The women in the first hour were both horrible (they both nearly passed out from exhuastion during the Eliminator), and the men's competition was lopsided. The second hour was much better, although I really hated that guy that lost -- he made it sound like he'd been praying for AG to come back on the air every day for the last 14 years. I'm pumped to watch the rest of the season. Wolf is awesome.
  18. There needs to be a tournament so fucking badly.
  19. It was everything I'd hoped it would be, and more.
  20. Going to the Michigan/Northwestern game this weekend. Should be terrible.
  21. New criteria for the Hall of Fame: Did the player have Goose Gossage's respect?
  22. I laughed pretty hard when he said this. I would vote for:
