Judging a catcher based on the percentage of runners he throws out can be dicey. Sometimes the guys who are best at throwing out attempted base stealers still have a low percentage of guys they catch, because over time people tend to run on them less, and so when they do, it is only when they're certain they're going to make it, or in situations where the catcher doesn't really have a chance. I would have loved to have seen Granderson win it -- he's certainly worthy -- but I also think that Sizemore is a fine choice.

Who will the republican candidate be?

But why would they rather have a President Rudy? What does he have to offer them? -

Rudy needs the endorsement though, as he hasn't made many inroads with the religious right yet. Not sure why Robertson would endorse him though, other than to expose himself as only being interested in power and not principles. Rudy is so incompatible with the stuff Robertson preaches that I find this to be pretty hilarious. -
Yeah, the Gold Glove is usually pretty meaningless. Often times, they just keep voting for the same people year after year regardless of whether or not they're still good fielders, and in some cases for people who were never good fielders, but are big names. This year's awards seem less offensive than usual, but there are still a few dubious picks.

Things I think are wrong with this country

"Speculation" = the Republicans telling them to suggest it on the air. "Taking the bait" = repeating what they are told to say without questioning it. -
So we've come to this? An Eagles thread?

It's supposed to be for the guy who had the best season in NCAA ball, so yeah, not meant to be, nor has it ever been, a reliable indicator for future success in the NFL.

Charles Woodson has had a pretty good pro career. Would probably have been a legit superstar if not for injuries, but he's done pretty well for himself anyway. I think his point was that White did not have the talent and skills necessary to make it in the NFL. He was a fine college player, sure, but sometimes that is as much a product of a player having the perfect set of skills for the system that he is playing in than it is talent.

There's been some speculation about that from the start. I mean, obviously the reason he opted out was to get paid more -- that's just good business sense. If he can get the same money elsewhere though, I can't imagine why he'd want to stay in New York, though.

Hey, no one is forcing anyone to give a player a guaranteed contract. That's a choice that GMs make to make their offers more attractive. They wouldn't have to do this if they didn't keep offering them.

It is Election Day in the U.S. of A.
MrRain422 replied to bjorn_skurj's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
No. No penalties for not voting. It should be a national holiday though. Seriously, it's so dumb that it isn't. -
My, you're picky.

He's awesome, but he also works in a system that is designed perfectly for him, so coaching deserves a whole lot of credit. I don't know, I see the argument for him, but there's a pretty strong case against him too.

Not quite, but very close. Conference champions from non-BCS conferences must finish in the top 12 or finish in the top 16 and finish higher than a BCS-conference champ in order to get an automatic BCS berth. Otherwise, at-large berths come from the pool of teams that finish in the top 14 and have at least 9 wins. Of course if Michigan drops down below #12, they may fall even lower and not end up in the top 14, but that gives them a little bit more wiggle room to fall depending how badly they lose, assuming they do lose to tOSU.

I don't think anyone here has scoffed at the importance of security. What has been scoffed at is the idea that any of the Republican candidates have any idea how to keep us secure effectively. Rudy likes the same stupid deficit growing, middle class-busting, rich-favoring tax policies as Bush. -

These posts convinced you to vote for them? Why? Just to be contrary? If you really want to vote for them, that's your business, but to do so because a few people on an internet message board don't like them is just stupid. What are the issues that you care about, and what about those candidates stances on those issues attract you? -

No, Giuliani isn't as anti-abortion as the other major candidates, but he's certainly as retarded when it comes to the tax system, and he's fully behind domestic spying. I think he's the scariest of the GOP candidates. And if he does get elected, I'll probably end up in prison for this post. The NYC firefighters are already speaking out pretty loudly against him, and if he gets the Republican nomination, there's no doubt that they will take their cause national. He shouldn't get any sort of "patriotic" vote because of 9/11. Anyone who's paid attention knows all the credit that he got for -
Kat Von D is super hot. I don't normally like that many tattoos, but shit, it totally works on her.

Remember when everyone talked about how Charlie Weis was an offensive genius? And this year (yes, with his own recruits -- blaming it on Willingham is just false) his team is among the worst offensive teams in the country. And the Patriots are having a historic offensive season without him.

How humiliating for Notre Dame. I love it. My Wolverines gave me quite the scare tonight, but everything turned out okay. I'm glad Henne came through late, but it wouldn't have been that close if he hadn't been repeatedly missing a wide open Manningham all game until then.
