That trade kind of freaked me out because it happened only a couple of days after Hudson got shipped off, but now I'm a total Haren fangirl. And how much ass does Kiko Calero kick? It kind of makes up for the Hudson trade being a bust for the A's. (Although the Braves aren't getting much out of Hudson these days.) -
My paper went through the layoff/buyout situation last year. Fortunately, everyone who ended up leaving went voluntarily. But, to put it ineloquently, it still sucked. Not that I am fearing for my job at the moment, but the other day I was wondering what I would do if I didn't work for a newspaper. I concluded that I have no idea.

If someone had told me in April that Esteban Loaiza would pitch a four-hit shutout this season, I would have taken that person the nearest psych ward. I bet the Cards are wishing they had Dan Haren back. -

Back-to-back home runs kick ass, as does winning seven of eight against the division. Edit: And add to that list game-ending interference calls when the opposing team has the winning run at the plate. -
I will continue to ignore this fact. Seriously, I stopped drinking pop for a whole summer and it really does work. But it's so freaking hard to do. Now drinking:

Thanks. Tickets for most of the shows are on sale now at the DBT Web site.

This is some good shit (to state the obvious).

A's are back in first place. I need to stock up on Pepto-Bismol for next week's series with the Angels. -
That's too bad, ES. It reminds me of the first time I saw him: Even though he'd just released a freakin' double CD, he insisted on playing tons of stuff from Jacksonville City Nights and 29. I love Ryan, but that's the thing with him -- you just never know what you're going to get at his shows.

That's gold, Jerry, gold! -
Anderson Cooper is one of my pet peeves. Also, Web sites that automatically play audio/video.

Um, Barry Zito, you do know you're supposed to stop the other team from scoring, right?

Thanks! The rest of the tour dates are here.

Spiders. And most of AGIB, actually.

Also, people who forget to turn their turn signal off. And what is with those flags that people attach to their car windows? Those drive me nuts. Man, I could start a whole list of driving pet peeves...

Today is my Monday, but I guess I can't complain since I was just off for four days. I went to many A's games, saw Ryan Adams, and got to hang out with one of my favorite people on the planet. Not too shabby at all.

The only other time I saw Ryan, I went in with a lot of expectations that weren
