  2. Looks like Galveston is in for a World of hurt.
  3. Then it is even MORE inexcusable. It is so apparent that too many educators are exercising undiscriminating, unthinking, authority. Authority without reason. Zero tolerance is simply a passing of the buck for making stupid shit decisions. I am so glad that I rarely have to deal with hidebound, ignorant assholes taken with their own position and power.
  4. I was 41 and at work. I was leaving my office looking for one of my guys on the floor to discuss some issues. I had been listening to Howard Stern on the radio which was on tape delay so we were an hour behind the radio broadcast. I found Gary talking to John huddled together. John was an old hand in my industry and a former staff officer in the Pentagon. I asked them what they were talking about as they had a bit of an adversarial relationship (thinking I might have to referee again...). John asked me if I had heard. "Heard what". "A plane just crashed into the World Trade Center.
  5. That's why I will be glad when D-man graduates. Public schools are cesspools. Teaching to the lowest common denominator and having administrators with ZERO common sense.
  6. Funny...but it is really very offensive. Eurotrash spoofing on Southern culture is akin to doofuses wearing blackface.
  7. Just remember...if it weren't for jealousy and shortsightedness, the SSC would be in operation in the Dallas area today. During the design and the first construction stage, a heated debate ensued about the high cost of the project. In 1987, Congress was told the project could be completed for $4.4 billion, but by 1993 the cost projection exceeded $12 billion. An especially recurrent argument was the contrast with NASA's contribution to the International Space Station (ISS), which was of similar amount.[citation needed] Critics of the project argued that the US could not afford both of them.
  8. I found this really interesting... Jordan urges healthy eating during holy month By SHAFIKA MATTAR and JAMAL HALABY, Associated Press Writers Wed Sep 10, 3:05 AM ET AMMAN, Jordan--The public-service TV ads deliver a cheerful, yet pointed, message to Muslims observing Ramadan's traditional dawn to dusk fast: "Don't overeat" when night comes. "Exercise and stay healthy." The government media campaign
  9. Mizzou to improve the Heisman 'View' By MIKE DeARMOND The Kansas City Star COLUMBIA--Missouri will send out 2,500 3-D black View Masters with photo disks of quarterback Chase Daniel to Heisman Trophy voters and other national media. The View Master comes in a box with the logo of the Missouri Tigers and the words, naturally enough, Mizzou
  10. I think the tribe is more than welcome...after all the two poster boys of the neocon movement are Jewish...
  11. He kinda looks like he has a boozer's nose these days.
  12. I wholeheartedly disagree with this. He missed the mark so bad it is almost like he was parodying the book.
  13. Trumpet vine...... It has taken over my back yard...I hate the shit.
  14. Cool version of a great Zevon tune. Was he staring at a teleprompter or at that chick in the front row clapping along to the song?
  15. Batshit fucking nuts... He ruined Dune, but Twin Peaks (especially the first season) is wondrous. But I can't abide anything else he has done.
  16. I find it to be an act of hubris on the part of the protester. Who are they going to reach? Ten seconds of the back of their head on TV is really going to reach the masses. It's just fodder for getting laid at the coffee house.
  17. I stumble across AM in a Best Buy Store shortly after it came out. They had it priced at a ridiculously low price (promotional item) and I snapped it up. I had heard of Uncle Tupelo but had never checked them out. I became a Wilco fanatic shortly after I the first listen. Been on the train ever since. Took my then 13-year old to see Wilco last year about this time.
  18. I feel like this quite often... The show you did with Warren Zevon, when he'd been diagnosed with terminal cancer and only had months to live: He'd been on many times. Was it a difficult show to do? Oh, it was awful. Warren was so good about it. After the show, it was heartbreaking
  19. It may be time to take a hiatus from here... I am beginning to feel really uncomfortable about the level of discourse around here...
  20. Wrong. The government fucks things up (at least at the local level) because nobody want to pay taxes. Therefore, every government function is underfunded and has to work with peopel who are either very dedicated (rather rare) or too lazy or incompetent to find other jobs.
  21. come to Dallas. You can stand on the grassy knoll looking for rifle shell casings.
