  1. Good to see you back, kiddo! The most miserable person in Professional Sports has to be the Giancarlo Stanton. He's going to be stuck in that mess for at least three years.
  2. He is STILL beloved in the former Soviet Union.
  3. I feel like a bullet in the gun of Robert Ford.
  4. There is always loose talk thrown about when somebody passes how they were giants. Van Cliburn was a giant. Not just in the Classical Music world, but in American popular culture of the late 1950's. He was a family friend (meaning friend of my family, I never met the man); and I am constantly regaled with stories of just how genial man he was. 5. It's called MI-5 over here. Anyway...a really good show. I watched up until Adam Carter (Rupert Penry-Jones) got blown up.
  6. For some reason, I just don't get the Grateful Dead. It's not the 'jam band' ethos...I like the Allmans quite a bit. It's not the vocals being an acquired taste....I love Dylan. To paraphrase a rather harsh qoute that kind of meets my thoughts: "They are a band with Coltrane aspirations and Buzzcocks ability." A little too harsh, but I understand what is meant. Maybe it's a location thing...the whole trippin' audience thing. Maybe not. But I just don't get it, although I'd surely love too. However, Not everybody loves Springsteen, Dylan or Zeppelin as I do. But I feel I am missing an imp
  7. I'm hoping beyond hope for a surprise release around May. If Bob Dylan and David Bowie can produce a record that nobody but the participants knew about, then Mr. Tweedy and company can do it also. They don't have papparazzi and biographers following their every move. I'm just hoping Jeff can keep interested and excited and keep this band rolling along.
  8. The amazing part of that is that he put up those numbers after basically going into a coma for three months in the middle the season. His play in the last two weeks of the season were embarrasingly abysmal.
  9. As a Rangers fan, I am extremely bitter over his disappearing act last year and his poor decision making in his personal lifestyle decisions. (The whole smokeless tobacco and caffeine debacle would be comical if it didn't cost the Rangers the West...or help to).
  10. We'll see how well he does in the bright lights of LA. He had issues in Dallas,There are a lot more opportunities for getting in trouble in LA.
  11. Unless he wasn't in a bar. Listen, the stories on this guy and the accomodations that the team and his family have to make are really amazing. My favorite is his wife won't let him have a credit card or carry cash. She follows him to the gas station and pays for the gas so he won't have any money. I can't fault Daniels for not pulling the trigger. At least now if the phone rings at 3am, he won't have to worry if the $125 million investment he made for the ball club just did a bump off a strippers tits, tore apart a bar and is in jail. Now he can worry about his idiot right fielder doing PED
  12. Yeah...it really makes me wish that Jim O'Rourke would come back to the States and resume his collaboration with Jeff. He was the perfecto foil for Jeff...weird, proficient and an odd mixture of abondon and restraint.
  13. Not a real possibility anymore. Not to bash on Hamilton like a jilted lover, but his mindset would scare the hell out of me. There are two incidents with booze and chicks since 2009. He only admitted to them after DEAD SPIN posted pictures. I wonder how many other 'incidents' there are that haven't come to light because there weren't any cell phone pictures.
  14. Unkind over and under from a bitter Rangers fan (think this is an over/under...gambling is not really my area of degeneracy) Which happens first this season---Hamilton caught doing a bump off Lindsay Lohan's ass in a bathroom stall at Leonardo's or Ron Washington saying "that's the way baseball go" for the 50th time.
  15. Given PEDS to Michael Young and given Nicotine patches to Hamilton.
  16. John Daniels definitely drew a line in the sand this offseason. The decision to not trade any of the prospects will either set the franchise back a couple of years, or be might payoff in the future. But, by June, if Olt and Profar as well as Perez are still in the minors....
  17. Post a text quotation. I refuse to frequent his blog.
  18. A couple of thoughts about the allegations that Nelson Cruz was doping: Proof positive that doping won't lead to transcendent offensive numbers of He must really suck if his 2012 numbers are PED influenced Seriously though, even though Cruz is really inconsistent, I don't want to even begin to think how the Rangers replace him for 50 games in RF.
  19. The Tigers are a confusing bunch. With that lineup, you'd think they would just rake and run away with the Central.
  20. Nice to know. My awareness of Wales revolves around some historical Novels about Llywelyn Fawr, Doctor Who (produced in Cardiff) and the fact that one branch of my family fled the coal fields of South Wales in the 1700's.
  21. At least you guys have a World Series win within the last decade. I've been thinking Reuben Amaro started believing his press...
