  1. Perfect for a Friday: Also about 1 year since I saw them on tour. What a great show that was.
  2. I like "In Shock". And I was a big Muses fan, though more of T. Donnelly's. Gonna have to check this out.
  3. Will/does it sound like "the book I write". :dons flame suit:
  4. It's on my to do list for this weekend. I was worried that it would be redundant of the Jackpot Sessions, but it isn't. Must buy ASAP.
  5. What is this? Why does it have an altered SYOF cover? [edit]Love answering my own question: Since everybody and their mom has a remix album these days, why not Stars? According to the group's label, Arts&Crafts, Do You Trust Your Friends, a "track for track interpretation" of Stars' last album, 2004's Set Yourself on Fire, featuring the interpretive skills of Broken Social Scene, Metric, the Dears, the Elected, and Junior Boys, among others, is due out in the fall. Track list: your ex-lover is dead (final fantasy) set yourself on fire (montag) ageless beauty (the most serene republ
  6. Sirius #26 has it in light rotation. I've purposefully been avoiding all the leaks, so this is the first official release I've heard. Really don't care for it at all. Snoozefest w/ a terrible refrain.
  7. I don't care how cliche it is, I am suddenly jonesin for some Like a Hurricane - live.
  8. I really don't get how anyone could condemn their lyrics. Tunnels was an absolute gut punch the first time it twinkled into existence on my stereo. It's still as magical on the 100th+ listen. Same with Laika and most of the other songs on Funeral. BTW, can "in the backseat" get some love on this board as a severely underrated track on Funeral? I love that song.
  9. "sak vide pa kanpe" is a creole proverb that means "an empty sack cannot stand up."
  10. I hoped on VC right after the performance expecting at least a dozen comments calling for the soundboard guy's head for having the keyboards pumped way too much on Intervention. I didn't care for the other song. As far as Acrade Fire in general, Funeral is truly an inspired album full of gorgeous lyrics, poingant emotions, and (surpisingly) uptempo rockers. I'm not sure about Neon Bible yet. The lyrics to Intervention aren't as strong as the best songs on Funeral, and it sounds more like Win is whining about cliche angst than anything personal and real. I'll reserve judgment on it. Bu
  11. Are you saying that you liked the Outback/Of Montreal commercial? Ugh.
  12. Great thread guys. I heard about his death at work the next morning and simply walked right out of the office. Very tough day. After him and Buckley, I'm scared to have music idols now. They all die on me.
  13. Niiiice. The lyrics are great, but this one is just haunting: BTW, the apocalypse is upon us - a youtube video of Murphy & Reznor playing with TV on the Radio confirms that Peter is FAT now. Woe, but it's the end times for sure. I'd also say The Trapeze Swinger and half of Elliott Smith's catalog applies here, but I'll go with Between the Bars because no one mentioned it. And even if it's a cheesy toss off I Figured You Out has made many a female cry in my presence. And how about a nod to some old school ballads. Call me cheesy again, but this one always got me as a kid:
  14. Wow... major nostalgia blast there. Summer in Chicago, and WXRT had all of those records on heavy rotation, plus Robyn Hitchcock.
  15. agreed. but i really do like some of the lyrics.
  16. I cant take any of these lists seriously that don't have elliott smith on them.
  17. still luvin this Just acquired. Just digging into it. Like the music so far, getting into the vocal style.
  18. I've listened to "The Mistress Witch of McClure" about 30 times today. It's completely stuck in my head.
