  1. I agree...that was quite beautiful. It's interesting to hear the silence in the gaps that would normally be punctuated by the joyful yelps from a Wilco/Tweedy audience. The song is allowed some space and it just seems like it swirls around the stadium. Thanks so much for posting.
  2. Ah OK. Thanks for setting me straight. I wonder why GD are not allowing soundboard downloads then?
  3. While we're on the topic (kind of), does anyone know how MD5 files work? I've tried a little snooping around the www for info but no luck. For instance, this GD show: http://www.archive.o....150.sbeok.shnf has only md5 files which I can't seem to transfer into audio (if, in fact, that is what I am meant to do).
  4. The Veneta, Oregon recording from 1972 has been in my car for weeks now. It's been my only soundtrack for driving and I just haven't tired of it. The Playing In The Band jam is quite extraordinary, particularly the re-entry into the song. I haven't seen much footage of the show (I know it's all there on the youtube) but I shall one day soon be locating a dvd copy and treating myself to a few hours of bliss one fine afternoon...
  5. A friend sent me this today and it's worth posting here. Just as relevant in 2012. Woody Guthrie's new year's resolutions from 1942.
  6. I am loving this so much. Taking my time and savouring every page:
  7. The post-Christmas pre-new year's period is probably one of my favourite. Nothing but down time - mooching around the house, reading, more reading, playing with the kids, meals at night with those family members in town and general merriment. Here in the southern hemisphere we're launching into summer (though here in Sydney, we're kind of still waiting for the sun to come out - I'm desperate for a swim in the ocean to start shedding some of the many kilos I've put on over Christmas!)
  8. That's very strange. If you can read the host's computer screen at the 4:45 mark it says something like: "If this really goes sideways I have ........... standing by" - couldn't quite make out the middle.
  9. Side one "Nature's Way" (Randy California) – 2:25 "Broken Hearted People" (Guy Clark) – 3:47 "Echo Beach" (Mark Gane) – 2:53 "Tell Me That It Isn't True" (Bob Dylan) – 2:36 "2541" (Grant Hart) – 3:46 "Anytime" (Herbert "Happy" Lawson) – 3:55 Side two "Locked Away" (Steve Jordan, Keith Richards) – 3:27 "Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow)" (Neil Diamond) – 2:49 "Alone" (Tom Kelly, Billy Steinberg) – 3:12 "Bird" (Michael Hansonis) – 4:47 "Frisco Depot" (Mickey Newbury) – 2:36 "3 A.M." (Bill Anderson, Jerry Todd) – 2:29
  10. I have one and my wife has one. I have also made two of my own. Is this illegal? I used images of past Wilco posters from their site, printed off onto iron on transfers... Perhaps I shouldn't be admitting this here. I don't sell them, I wear them all the time and I figure I'm plugging the band where I go so...
  11. My favourite Christmas album so far this season:
  12. The CD that comes with this book is wonderful:
  13. I was thinking about what my favourite verse might be when I originally posted. I think it's this one... Oh, the Union Central is pullin’ out and the orchids are in bloom I’ve only got me one good shirt left and it smells of stale perfume In fourteen months I’ve only smiled once and I didn’t do it consciously Somebody’s got to find your trail, I guess it must be up to me
  14. Blood On The Tracks is a phenomenal record. What is somewhat more devastating is the accompanying bootleg, Blood On The Tapes. 'Up To Me' is probably one of Dylan's most heart wrenching (unreleased) songs. http://www.bobsboots...CDs/cd-b27.html And if you need to hear some more devastating versions of some BoTT songs look no further than the live album 'Hard Rain'. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBDDiIp7yfM&feature=player_detailpage
  15. Oh yeah. And here he is... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwXYgMDoY0k&feature=player_detailpage
