  1. This song has crept up on me. I like it a lot.
  2. I've stated this here before...but we are so fortunate to stand in the presence of greatness. Thank you, Wilco, for all you have brought to the lives of people who consider your music to be so important - and I am one of the many. The Factory gig at Sydney was maybe one of the finest performances I've seen by a band in my life. Thank you for: * The experience of standing directly in front of John Stirratt * The intensity of At Least That's What You Said played live * Playing not one, but two Big Star songs * Showing all through a concert that this is a band who genuinely loves, gets
  3. Well, his guitar wasn't capoed so he was actually playing A, E & D chords.
  4. Saw them in Sydney. The hits just kept on comin'!
  5. Thank you very much for this recording. I just went for a long walk listening to this which I needed so much today. I know I'm stating the obvious in a forum such as this but I really feel privileged to have seen this band the few times that I have. I have stood in the presence of greatness.
  6. I have witnessed one of the finest shows I have ever seen. It has lead me to taking the day off from work today. I can't hear a thing and can't talk but I'm not calling it a sick day. I'm calling it a Wilco day. I need this day to think about what it was that I saw taking place before me last night. I probably shouldn't be writing this now as these thoughts are only partly-formed but I'll throw a few of them out there. The Factory is only a small venue in Sydney's inner-west. I think it'd hold around 400 people (?) so being a sold out gig, there was electricty & anticipation in the air
  7. Long ago I hit you we were in the car you were crazy in the back seat it had gone too far and I pulled the auto over and I hit you with all my might I knew right away it was too hard and I'd never make it right. I was aiming for your buttock but I struck your outer thigh you had on a bathing suit and right before our eyes suntanned skin turned crimson where the hand had hit and my palm stung from hitting you so hard that I hurt it. Against the law in Sweden charges can be filed here it's all too common a parent hits a child. On your face I saw the shock and then I saw the pain then I saw
  8. I took my gal a-walkin' It was on one Saturday night I took my gal a-walkin' And the moon was shining bright I asked her if she'd marry me And this is what she said She said she wouldn't marry me If the rest of the world was dead. I ain't got nobody, I'm just as blue as can be I ain't got nobody to make a big fuss over me If I don't get somebody I'll go back to the farm Milk the cows and chickens, I don't give a golly gosh darn. I took my gal a-walkin' It was on one Saturday night I took my gal a-walkin' And the moon was shining bright I asked her if she'd kiss me And this is what she said
  9. I'm in love with a girl Finest girl in the world I didn't know I could feel this way. Think about her all the time Always on my mind I didn't know about love. All that a man should do is true I didn't know this could happen to me.
  10. I still have this on a VHS tape somewhere. This performance was phenomenal! Used to air drum to it many years ago. Love the part where one of his vocal mics feeds back and he just tosses it away. The piano is great, too.

  12. Very sad and too young. I'm going to play some Big Star on guitar tonight.
  13. Saw them in Sydney last night. Phenomenal. Such a pleasure to see (first time for me) Steve West drumming. Gobias directed my attention toward this site: http://www.windowfruit.com/pavement2010/
  14. Thanks for the great link. Show last night was fantastic. Thunderously loud and the hits just kept comin' for almost two hours!
  15. Wow. Nice list. I'm seeing Pavement tonight in Sydney. Very excited.
  16. I read a bunch of them but I remember owning "The Race Forever". I was obsessed by that book. It invloved you (the reader) being a rally driver taking part in a rally across Africa. Completely obsessed I was...
  17. This just quietly and beautifully made my hot and tired old day. Does anyone know what a 'state premium ticket' is? Perhaps a more expensive ticket from the State Theatre?
  18. Singer Songwriter Blues by Tim Rogers (You Am I) & The Temperance Union Well I can really tell my bandmates are startin' to worry 'bout me I'm doin things with my facial hair reminiscent o' 1973 Listenin' to the Eagles and Steely Dan even the ones you aint supposed to like Got myself dolled up in a sharp white suit like Dylan at the Isle O White An' I'm takin' it all so serious now so complex I won't leave a clue I got the age old sack o shit singer songwriter blues Yeh the age old solid gold singer songwriter blues I'm sacrificing happiness for a fat royalty cheque One that I can no
  19. I like it too. Steven's synth outro to Worm Mountain is quite beautiful.
