  1. Not really digging it. The writing style is tedious and there is very little information here that anyone with a base level knowledge of the group doesn't already know. I'm quitting this book, and will begin this one tonight:
  2. Kinda like Joe Cocker (although he did co-write some real gems, like Marjorine, Change in Louise, and Sandpaper Cadillac, from his first album). Incidentally, another singer who worked with Jimmy Page.
  3. That's cool info! I knew it was Beck on guitar on that track, but I didn't realize the other musicians were the Beck Group.
  4. I was in a band that opened for 5ive Style once, so I sort of met Leroy. Actually, they pulled rank and insisted on playing second out of three bands, forcing us into the last slot. So in a way, they opened for us, leaving us to play to an empty room.
  5. You can get that from an Amazon private seller for $14.49. The Interplay box sells for a similar price through Amazon sellers. I got my Side Steps box on Saturday. A bargain at twice the price. So far I've only listened to the first disk. Good stuff!
  6. Only when you open the thread.
  7. Cool, thanks. I think I have mostly middle period stuff. The Real Macaw , and other '80s keyboard drenched stuff like that.
  8. At the risk of derailing a Crazy Horse thread too far into Graham Parker territory, can you name one or tow of the best Parker albums? I've been meaning to get more of his stuff, since I hear songs of his that I like fairly often. I probably have three or four of his albums, but the only one that I think is solid is this:
  9. So Ticketmaster is probably getting more money per ticket than whatever cause the show is a benefit for.
  10. Those things by themselves are good enough, but when combined with this: Well, need I go on?
  11. Just wanted to note that this is at least the second time Stryper has graced this forum in one week.
  12. I'll go out on a limb here and say that there are probably a lot more terrible Graham Parker albums than terrible Rumour albums. Unfortunately, I seem to own most of the bad Graham records. Re: Crazy Horse. Sure, they play like cavemen, but I doubt you'll be hearing a group of "good" musicians play a convincing version of Sedan Delivery.
  13. Yeah, also Dylan supposedly asked him "why do you play with those guys?"
  14. Heh, I bought a Rumour record for $1 a few months ago. I can't seem to get around to listening to it.
  15. I had a girlfriend once that didn't like the Beatles. She did like Concrete Blonde, though.
  16. Everyone except for Creed, who just went on enjoying his bowl of noodles.
  17. Someone on the All About Jazz forum broke down exactly what is on this box, and here it is: Complete Albums Elmo Hope: Informal Jazz Tadd Dameron with John Coltrane: Mating Call Mal Waldron: Mal/2 Red Garland: All Mornin' Long Red Garland: Soul Junction Red Garland: High Pressure Incomplete Albums Ray Draper: Featuring John Coltrane (5/6) Sonny Rollins: Tenor Madness (1/5) Gene Ammons: The Big Sound (1/4) Gene Ammons: Groove Blues (3/4) Red Garland: Dig It! (2/4) Mal Waldron: The Dealers (2/4) The reason for incomplete albums is that Coltrane does not appear on all the tracks on t
  18. Yeah, that's true. My absolute favorite Coltrane is his work with Monk. This box appeals to me because I over listened to his work with the Elvin Jones version of the quartet for the last several years. Not to take anything away from Elvin, who is amazing, but my time spent listening to Coltrane lately is mostly pre-Impulse, pre-Elvin Jones releases, and the occaisional post-Elvin album. Also, aside from his great work with Miles and Monk, I've heard very little of Trane as a sidemen. My order shipped yesterday, by the way.
  19. Definitely got beaten over the head with the Michael Scott-isms in last night's episode. Hopefully they'll tone that down.
  20. Cool! That other Coltrane box I ordered shipped really fast. Hopefully this one will, too. Coltrane is a fun discovery. There's so much to explore. Judging by the track listing of this box, you might be discovering a number of other artists. I know I will. Many of the albums in this box are by artists whose names I'm familiar with, but whose music I don't believe I've heard (Elmo Hope, for instance).
