Wow, their press release is extremely misleading.
-
So apparently Jack White wrote these "avant garde orchestral songs," recorded them, and is putting them out on XL Recordings. I just listened to three tracks posted on the myspace, http://www.myspace.com/alumiiinium , and some of its sounds pretty cool. Its called ALUMIIINIUM, and its kind of weird. MySpace has the whole press release etc. on there.

I play To Go Home in dropped D. Opens with a fully strummed D chord...and then i play the ascending part like this: e -x- x- x- 3-------------- B -3- 5- 7- x-------------- G -4- 4- 4- 4------------- D (5)(5)(5)(5)------------- A -x- x- x- x--------------- D -5- 5- 5- 5---------------------- Obviously you need to strum it in rhythm but thats the fingerings i use, that 7 on the B may be a bit of a reach with the pinkie so you can play it as 2 on e. The rest of the song is pretty easy. The only chords used are D A and G. Id do it all out but my roomate is sleeping and i cant play anything.

ylt, not much to discuss

This record is fantastic and I would say that its the most "immediate" of the YLT records I have heard. Definitely check it out if your new or old to YLT.
-
I really like the bigger sound hes getting despite the fact there arent too many people on stage. The whole two drummers thing is absolutely amazing and really took the live performances to another level.
-
Just saw him tonight in Boston, played two encores, the set totalled an hour and half. It was amazing, I dont think it needs any more elaboration around here but it was certainly one of the best shows ive seen in a while.
-
umm...i'm going to go ahead and second that
-
Just saw that "Wax Fang" are opening the first dates (up to 11/22 in louisville) and "The Slip" are opening the second half (start 11/24 in Chicago) anyone know about either of these bands?
-
This record is going to be absolutely amazing, even the coldplay song. HOV for life.
-
I just got an email from amazon saying that it wouldnt ship until november 3. So i canceled my order and went for the wilcoworld pre order, a little more expensive but it will come on time.
-
I would also venture to guess its going to be more than 13.99 on Wilcoworld.
-
done. also pre-ordered the new Beck for 12.99
-
Where can I hear either of these? I have heard one or two mp3s from each of these releases but nothing more. I checked on indietorrents neither are up and I'm not an Oink member.

I think they are definetly taking a step backwards or at least to the side with this new material. Nothing groundbreaking here, for them or for music in general. We will see, its possible (i hope) that the studio versions of these tunes may come out completely different.
