awesome stuff...saw them at lollapalooza and they put on a great set
-
Loose fur with Leroy Bach
damn that sounds really nice as do the malkmus/nasto and mward/catpower ones
ill suggest jeff, glenn, neil, and bob...i would love some jeff/neil guitar action

1. Daft Punk (rediculous, i dont care if they are pressing buttons, i dont care if they are up there reading the newspaper with their ipods playing, that show was awesome)
2. My Morning Jacket (third time seeing them live, they really give Wilco a run for their money as best live rock act around)
3. Stephen Marley (i'm not really into reggae at all but i had so much fun at his set)
4. M.I.A. (despite sound troubles, she was awesome)
5. TV on the Radio/ Yeah Yeah Yeahs (two amazing performances, couldnt decide)
didnt really see anything i hated (other than polyphonic spree which sort of creeped me the fuck out)
other honorable mentions:
Illinois (never heard them until seeing them here but they were great)
Black Keys (only caught a bit of this set but sounded great)
The Roots
Peter Bjorn and John
Annuals
was pretty dissapointed saturday night... caught a bit of both headliners (Muse and Interpol) and was pretty bored by both
a great weekend overall though

i actually agree with that
-

-
theologians has oft brought tears to my eyes
agree with one by one as well
be patient with me, and some YHF-era live versions of pot kettle black
-
Fender just released this, a J Mascis signature Jazzmaster, looks awesome
-
I bought a ticket for the Calvin as well, I assume you saw him at Somerville Theater...it'll be hard to top (the Jeff solo show there was awesome as well) that but I'm looking forward to seeing him in Noho. I assume that he is still playing acoustic.
ive gathered some information that points towards these shows being "red cave" (cardinal speak for electric, as opposed to an acoustic "blue cave" show).
-
we really just need to add a section dedicated to wilco spottings
that was my initial reaction as well
-
I don't think it's overplayed at all (live? radio?), I just don't think it's very good, so it's easy to pick it from a bunch of other songs that are very good.
maybe not overplayed but if you know just one wilco song chances are it HMD
i agree that it is surrounded by songs much better than it and it doesnt fit into YHF at all but i on its own i think its a decent pop song

yup saw him at somerville which was a pretty legendary show. i was hoping for some electric stuff but would be quite satisfied with another acoustic show half as good as the somerville one.
-
i dont get the HMD hate
sure its overplayed by a hardcore fan's standards
and it isnt a "profound mood piece"
but its a good pop song...or are people not into that sort of pedestrian shit anymore?

at least their president only acts shit faced part of the time

toothpastefordinner.com - hilarious web comics, videos, blog posts...also check out married to the sea, a different web comic from the same folks that is also hilarious
here is a married to the sea comic that i find particulary appropriate:
-
overrated: what light, walken
underrated: wishful thinking, pieholden suite, summerteeth (the song), in a future age, why would you wanna live (and number of songs of BT disc 2)
-
got tickets to see him in Northhampton at the Calvin (the site of my first and only jeff solo show), any word on electric or acoustic for this tour? i saw him at the end of june acoustic with cardinals and it was great but would love to see an electric show.

Question for folks... the title "You Are My Face"...
usually somewhere within a song you hear the title, but not on YAMF, it's not mentioned.
Where do you think the title comes from?
i remember jeff said something in an interview about this being a song that he was singing to himself into the mirror...hence the title

yeah, on imdb it says it's in pre-production for 2009 release. but, i thought it was his next film, and then this got made instead, so who knows when it'll come out or be made. here's the link it's going to be stop-motion.
great news...i love me some roald dahl...according to IMDB george clooney will be doing the voice of mr. fox...hmmm
-
guitar center...they should do it for relatively cheep.
debatable...i think you'd be fine drilling...look around online on some gear forums, maybe someone can give you a more reliable answer
-
great music! let's hope it's all kinks songs. i can't wait for him to finish fantastic mr fox, that's always been one of my favourite roald dahl books as a child.
wes anderson is making a movie out of fantastic mr fox? that is awesome...any word on a release?
