  1. This just in from the year 2020: "Staffers for Barton's presidential campaign went into overdrive yesterday after reports surfaced that the presumptive nominee made over 20,000 posts, many with sex, drug and anarcho-syndicalist references, on an Internet bulletin board known as Via Chicago."
  2. Look, we all know there is a lot of duh-dumb, third-rate crap-rap out there, but those of us who are pervious to rap know there is some damn fine writing going on in the genre. So let's post our examples, shall we? I'll open with Black Star (Mos Def and Talib Kweli) and "Atmosphere (8th Light)." [Mos Def] Against the canvas of the night Appears a curious celestial phenomena called Black Star, but what is it? [Talib Kweli] Black people unite and let's all get down We got to have what? 3. He's pretty good. It's in a building that kind of looks like a spaceship landed in the middle of a field in Red Hook, N.Y.
  4. Do tell. I am going to see the Leon Botstein Symphony Orchestra tonight. Zara-fucking-thustra! and some Sibelius and Barber (Knoxville 1915) too.
  5. Well, then, whatever comes next, I am not prepared to accept.
  6. The guy in the movie was right - Mozart used too many notes.

  9. You make it sound like it is not quite rational to want Hillary as the nominee. I know quite a few people who would disagree.
  10. Yes. Shortly after they switched overdog/underdog roles.
  11. That record still stands up. Very good stuff. See original post.
  12. Just my opinion, but here are some names for those who don't ordinarily listen to the stuff. A Tribe Called Quest The Roots (Most of) The Beastie Boys Gang Starr De La Soul The Pharcyde
  13. I like Genesis, both Gabriel-era and what followed, up until about the Genesis "Genesis" album, more than it is probably cool to admit around here.
  14. It's called charisma, and Barack has it in spades. His detractors' mission has been to bring up as much crap as possible to tarnish that sheen. It may be that some in the media fell for it a little bit earlier this year and now feel guilty about it and are overcompensating.
