  1. Paterson was not really a notable legislator. I have no idea what he will be like as governor. Interestingly, Spitzer's nemesis, Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno, a Republican. now moves up to be lieutenant governor.
  2. Violation of the social contract will get you removed from society.
  3. Spitzer was also in a bad spot because his popularity had pretty much evaporated. Dude wasn't really a that much of a people person, and he lacked the power base to make the other Albany power bases do his bidding. Now, if I can only get some legislation before Gov. Paterson, then we could get some things done around here.
  4. Another positive contribution to our culture from Bob Guccione. Even had the same typeface.
  5. I am as anarchistic as anybody, but holy shit. The chief law enforcement officer of the state admitted he broke the law. It's kind of like seeing a cop do something on the road that if a cop saw you do, you would totally get a ticket, times a million. New York is not as bad as some people make it out to be, but we do have some things we have to deal with, and Spitzer staying in office while this plays out would be a huge impediment to that. A woman at our office is not in favor of Paterson being governor. Not because he is black, but because he is blind. "They could put anything in front of hi
  6. The Who, by a doink. Both are really, really great and no one should ever be forced to choose between them.
  7. How was their last album? I really liked "The Decline of," but I heard the one with the bear constellation on it wasn't that good.
  8. Plus, the argument "it's for your security" goes a long way with a lot of people. A lot of people also cannot be roused to protest the impingement of rights of people they perceive to be not "real" Americans; i.e., anybody with an Arab-sounding name who is not Muhammad Ali or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. I still remain deeply pissed off at Eliot Spitzer.
  9. All this gubernatorial nookie in N.Y. had made me nostalgic for this, the death of Nelson Rockefeller. Rockefeller died on the evening of Friday, January 26, 1979 at age 70 from a heart attack under circumstances whose details have never been completely revealed. Initial reports[12] said Rockefeller was at his office at Rockefeller Center working on a book about his art collection, where a security guard found him slumped over his desk; however, it was later disclosed that Rockefeller actually had the fatal heart attack in his 54th St. Manhattan townhouse in the presence of 26-year-old aide

    SNL!

Maybe we can prevail upon our friend M. Chris to suggest some good Afropop to listen to. I like it when I hear it, but I am in no way an expert. All of it that I have heard has had a lot more jump than Vampire Weekend.
  11. I have just editorially called for Spitzer to resign.
  12. If you like the area and can swing it money-wise, then stay. Having to switch schools can be tough for kids.

    SNL!

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one, To my ears, it sounds like they are barely competent. I don't hear much evidence of any spark, verve or much else than them just coping with the songs.
