  1. Don't get that way much, though my mom is half Mohawk, so that's like the ancestral homeland of 25 percent of me.
  2. Wouldn't have pegged Schoharie as a place to get good carrot cake.
  3. Me too. I had a great summer working at a small airport when I was in college.
  4. Yup. In a couple of years, you can buy it on the airplane itself!
  5. Aww. I have the impression that if I flew more, I would feel less anxious about it. I used to fly in little dinky airplanes, and I had no problems with that. My main problem is with the total surrender of control over your fate - your life is really in the hands of the pilots, the air traffic system and the dudes who fix the planes. Who all do a great job, as flying is still the safest way to get somewhere by a long shot.
  6. Hey, if it worked for Keith Richards, then what the hell?
  7. Before each takeoff and landing, I tell Jesus that I'm really sorry for being such an ass, and then hope for the best.
  8. That's nice of him to say, but I don't know if what a retired utility player says should be taken as gospel.
  9. Interesting bit of history, here, leading one to mayhaps conclude that Ralph was a bit of a tool in 2000. http://campaignstops.blogs.nytimes.com/200...?8ty&emc=ty
  10. Yes, I do remember that. Good show.
  11. 1. You saw the Dead when you were 12? Faaar out. 2. I agree with you about Wilco. The residency performances are head and shoulders better than the performances on Kicking Television, which were pretty good. A shame they didn't wait a few years to let this lineup season a bit before putting out a live album.
  12. I used to LOVE The Doors, but now I only like them. L.A. Woman is great album.
  13. I bet he don't like Vampire Weekend much either.
  14. I am mostly white and I like jokes! Like this one! A couple of New Jersey hunters are out in the woods when one of them falls to the ground. He doesn't seem to be breathing, his eyes are rolled back in his head. The other guy whips out his cell phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps to the operator: "My friend is dead! What can I do?" The operator, in a calm soothing voice says: "Just take it easy. I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead." There is a silence, then a shot is heard. The guy's voice comes back on the line. He says: "OK, now what?"
  15. Wish I knew of this place and you guys back then!
  16. In many states, people are hired "at will" - they can be fired at any time for any reason that is NOT forbidden by law, and I kind of doubt your situation is covered by that. The policy certainly sounds like something some lawyer came up with; I would point out to your bosses how intrusive it is. They may not even be aware of it.
  17. Somehow, I don't think it's lack of revolutionary zeal that is preventing the Democratic Party from reaching its goals. It is the fact that the Democrats just don't have the numbers in Congress to override Bush's vetoes. While I expect Nader to have little or no impact on the final outcome, he's not really a help in that regard, and his views are, to put it mildly, out of step with the views of most Americans. Center-left is about as far as this country's gonna go, and maybe not even that far, barring a Great Depression-type scenario. And if you put THAT much stress on the American people, we
  18. Wilco albums, ranked in order of purchase by me: MA I YHF AGIB AM BT KT SBS
  19. If you are looking to completely re-do the political structure of this country, as Nader and his -ites look to do, then there isn't a ton of difference between the Dems and GOP. If you are enlisted in the nation's military or are an Iraqi, then there's quite a bit of difference.
  20. Let's face it - McCain is going to be president anyway, so you might as well let Ralph have his jollies.
