  1. I don't blame anyone who is either from the Bronx or has roots in the Bronx for rooting for the Yankees. They should. That is their hometown team. Italians, too - the regard in which DiMaggio is held by Italian-Americans cannot be overstated. Some of my best friends, including my mom, root for the Yankees.
  2. Attorney for the plaintiffs must have been something else.
  3. Whoa. That's a pretty stiff judgment.
  4. Washington diary: Farewell cowboy? By Matt Frei BBC News, Washington Imagine an administration that has persuaded one of the world's most opaque and troublesome regimes to negotiate the dismantling of its nukes. Imagine an administration has given more than $15bn towards treating HIV/Aids, mainly in Africa; that has hinted it might boycott the Beijing Olympics if China doesn't intervene to stop Burmese monks from getting slaughtered; that has tried - and failed - to force immigration reform down the throats of its own party; that obsesses about alternative fuels and talks climate change.
  5. I am having cognitive dissonance, seeing Ernie Johnson without Charles Barkley.
  6. Woo-hoo! Good thing Philip K. Dick wasn't the script consultant.
  7. I missed the last two episodes. We won, right?
  8. I made reference to that in my Metsitorial, which was excellent, by the way.

  10. Yeah, I kind of gave up on SportsCenter after the billionth Tenacious D reference. Oy.

"I am still alive," reports Ian MacKaye, the frontman of such punk acts as Minor Threat and Fugazi, and the founder of Washington's Dischord Records. This would not be news except that The Sun and apparently many other organizations had been told that MacKaye was, in fact, dead. We were told that he died Monday night at Baltimore's St. Agnes Hospital. A call to the hospital found no evidence of such a patient. We
  12. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...mp;lid=tab1pos2 Heh.
  13. Shit's expensive, man. I am paying $70 a month for dogshit cable - no HBO, TCM. It's first on the list of things to go if money gets tighter.
  14. How long is that train ride? (I'm sorry you have to go through this, btw.)
  15. Until the AFC Championship game, anyway.
  16. In some places, it remains possible to get a limited, albeit free, version of television by merely sticking a piece of metal into the air and attaching it to the back of the TV. BTW, my Metsitorial really kicks ass. You should all go out and get copies of the paper this week.
  17. Now I have to write an editorial about the Mets. First, more wine!
